did anyone see that catch last night. reminds me of jeter going into the stands and i like the running into the outfield and throwing across your body and getting the guy out at first throws. the range, the smile that andrus carries, the way that he looks like a 10 year vet. i would have to put him in the front of the class as far as being the next derek jeter. same age as when they came up i think, and the longevity that jeter has played for makes it seem as though he hs been around for 20 years already and i think that elvis andrus can do the same since he started so early. could be.

If he was on the Yanks, I'd say yes, but since he's on the Rangers he'll never get the love Jeter does. Andrus is already a better defensive SS than Jeter is and has ever been, he was expected to hit around .220 this year and has done much better than that and he's only going to get better since he's only 20.

question to answer: why? you dont even know, you're just assuming over the entire body of work instead of looking at the characteristics and the tools that elvis andrus has that can make him the next derek jeter.

he may get the same kind of numbers that jeter has gotten but he will not win 4 world series, he wont ever be the captain of the rangers, and he wont ever be as popular as jeter is

It'll be tough to be as good a hitter, but he'll be a better defender, plus he might steal a few more bases. He's been talked about as being a leader as well, so there ya go.

He's already one of the leaders of the Rangers and I assume when Young leaves he'll be El Capatain. He's already a better defender than Jeter and he's only improving his hitting and base stealing.

Well, most teams don't name captains, players doesn't need to see a C on their chest to know who the leaders are, so he probably will never have the "C", but will be a leader nontheless.

So you want us to say yes?

I think you're setting the bar a little high for Elvis right now. Enjoy his play and let the career unfold.

If Andrus does what he has been doing this year consistently for the next 10+ years, then maybe I would start the Jeter comparisons......at 3 months in the big leagues.....NO not even close.

More than likely, he will never be even close to Jeter statistically.

LOL, he will be lucky to be even that....he has been in the big leagues for 3 months...lets give it some more time before we compare him to a for sure soon to be HOFer....

Sure Jeter doesnt have the best stats in the HOF, but what he has done over his career is HOF worthy, and come 5 years after his retirement, a first ballot HOFer....

Andrus will 99% likely not fall anywhere close to that.
