i've learned a lot of how to experience ebay in a positive way thanks in part to many of the people here - as sellers / buyers.

in a member's signature they mention an ebay seller that sends empty bubble mailers with delivery confirmation. seems like every time i read that statement, i ponder it for quite some time. not so much about that particular ebay seller, but the value of delivery confirmation as a buyer in an auction or say maybe even in a trade. other than a substantially weighted item, there really isn't a guarantee the item is in there. a lot of it has to do with the person you're dealing with.

this really isn't about someone forgetting to add the item to the package, but more so about the sender trying to swindle the other person. i'm not dealing with anything like this, i'm just curious about opinions.

what type of resolve is there for a buyer in this situation?

aside from damaged packaging upon receipt, i wonder if it's wise to start videotaping opening mail from now on just in case?

this topic was brought to you by...
"record yourself openning that package once/if it is received as it may be empty"( said on page 4 )

and by the letters B, W and the number 3
;)

thank you for your time.
good luck, god bless and may the force be with you!

Also, if you suspect the contents of a package aren't what they are supposed to be, open it in front of a USPS employee and obtain their official statement.

Just send back the empty envelope back with DC and give that # to paypal.
That won't mean anything...To catch the guys you just need to open it on video and send that to paypal and you'll win the dispute.

I also fear someone getting a package and just saying it was empty. Especially for something high end.

Blind trust is what we all have. Only way around it is video taping yourself putting an item in an envelope.

I bought $1000 off of ebay (on the side) just last week and this never ever ever even crosses my mind. I am to trusting with my $ I guess :?

If I need to start video taping what comes in the mail I will ditch the hobby first.

What he's saying is file with paypal saying item not as described. Send the same empty mailer back to the seller.

I don't worry about that here. I know my rep is good enough that, if someone were to try and screw me out of card, there are 30+ people in my feedback that would have my back, plus (I hope), others on this site that are just plain cool and I have known for a long enough time.

On eBay, well, that's a different story. I would think that, if you have a monetary limit that just a NEG bomb isn't worth, then videotape those openings. And if that last sentence is confusing, I mean this: I bought a $10 card on eBay and got an empty envelope. I'm screwed, but this seller is obviously a dick, and I would pay $10 to wreck his feedback.

thanks for the responses - useful information.
maybe i'll continue to keep the faith, however from now on i'll be a little more observant prior to opening any items.

Any user that gets repeated similar complaints will be inspected.

Therefore, anyone who does this with regularity will be hammered. Once is a serious, and almost impossible scenario...twice and it's clear what's going on. Three times, and they should lose their PayPal and eBay privileges along with their hands.

I would also open a claim in the Ebay Resolution Center. Paypal disputes dont get reported to Ebay. It would be best to have record of their abuse in Ebay.
