Is everyone from the forum safe right now? We are in big trouble in the town I live in. 13.5 inches of rain and major damage. Schools, churches, businesses and homes flooded. One of the worst natural disasters I have ever seen. They are calling for up to another 27 inches of rain over the next 24 hours.

I live roughly 75 miles west of Nashville. The rains stopped and waters receded. After an hour of rain I fear we are back where we started. My house did not get flooded out but it was dangerously close. I was one of the fortunate ones who was spared. Not so sure I will say the same tomorrow. At this point I am literally only thinking about survival.

Where are you?

We are ok, but last year, that place you saw totally under water in the news, in Georgia, yeah, that was us.
It looks bad on tv, but words cannot describe it when you are in your truck, and 165 roads in your county are closed due to floods.

Here are a few photos from last year...

We were in the clear until it rained for another hour. Now most all of the roads around us are once again closed.

Across the street from my house is a row of houses with a creek running a few hundred yards behind it. The creek flooded, went in their yards, came to our side of the road and flooded our yards. Our neighborhood was literally a running creek with limbs, garbage cans and who knows what else floating down the stream.

in the aforementioned flood in Atlanta from September of last year I lost almost everything i owned. 6 feet of water in our basement which is where I was keeping most everything as I was in the process of moving.

Cards (about a third), books (90% of all I owned), DVDs (more than half of my 800+ DVDs), Vinyl (about a fourth of my 2000+ records) and countless other things including misc. autos.

In summary, my thoughts are with you...

It's bad here, just outside of Nashville. I had to go into south Nashville last night to rescue the wife's 86 year old mother, normally a 45 minute trip took 4+ hours to find a way to her house. The water had gotten up to her doorstep last night, I got to her during a break in weather. It's rained again overnight & hasn't stopped. I would guess her house has water in it this morning, she's now with us & safe.

It's going to be a nightmare around here well after the rain ends with the Interstates & main highways having a lot of damage. The local news footage has had nothing but bad news everywhere around the area.

Stay safe folks

Good topic, I was going to post something until I saw this.

I live in Russellville, KY (just around 40 miles west of Bowling Green) and we have received around 5-8 inches, with amounts varying locally.

It is horrible in Tennessee around Nashville and Hendersonville, with entire portions of interstates flooded and closed.

My prayers go out to all affected!

I can't imagine the damage that will be uncovered when the water levels drop on the Interstate. Unspeakable damage. Roads and bridges are washing out all over the state. My wife and daughter are safe in west Tennessee but I have no clue how long it might be before we can reunite.

We are all good here in Seattle, just normal amount of rain. You all stay safe!
When I was short-haul trucking for Fastenal in Kansas in 2007, we had some bad tornado's and rain that flooded too, luckily it missed our house. Here are some pics from the Salina area.
