Very cool, Eddie!

Send me a PM with a list, start prices and pictures if you have the time and I can set up an auction preview thread. Please don't post them in here.
Thanks!

Bill

What the heck. I will find some stuff to auction off. Put me down for a spot.

whoa - deja vu! Same response from me though! LOL...

we need a few more people. I'm holding a spot for me, but if there are others who want to play auctioneer on this first round, I'll give the spot up. I only have a few items I'd move right now anyway that would be of interest to others. I can probably fill up 10-15 minutes of auctioneer time. :)

Awesome, I'll definitely check out the show. Looks like I grabbed an auction spot too, I didn't put up too much big stuff, tried to keep it under 150-200 range for the first one. I am putting up some sick stuff though. I'll be on here Sunday for sure, thanks for the welcome.

Who else is going to step up and auction some items off? Guys, I don't get it ... this is an opportunity move the stuff you keep posting on the Transaction boards but can't sell! Auction it off!!! Get some cash flow in your pockets to go out and buy the stuff you really want in your collection!

I would like to try but you have to think if there would be buyers , ESP competing buyers , for items. I could start say a card at $20 that I think is a $50 cash value, if it only gets 1 bid , then that's a big loss. And if I started it at $50 , then it's not really an auction . I think that's the overall holdback

Ryan,

It's going to be a work in progress, but we hope that even with people starting at a price they would be ok getting we will get some action going and as we go forward this will grow and we'll get more and more people involved. Keeping in mind that eBay takes like 10% and there's a time and hassle element involved, I could see people starting listings at like 65%-75% of what "eBay price" might be and going from there. So if a $50 item (which would net you like $41 or so after eBay, Paypal and shipping fees) is listed starting at say $35 and it's a decent item, hopefully we'll see some action. Even if 50% of the items don't get any bids, with the pace of the auctions (items taken down after maybe 30-60 seconds if there are no bids) it should still be fun.

Ryan, I think we just need to give it a to. I think sticking to items that sell no more than $30-50 at final value is a good play for the first round and sticking to things that can start at or below $10 is probably ideal. I think reserves are a silly idea and will defeat part of this as skeptical sellers will create skeptical buyers and we go nowhere. I'm going to list a few items that will not kill me see to cheap if it happens and I hope that things will actuay go well and I will be pleasantly surprised!

Still need a couple folks who are willing to be online and auction some stuff off Sunday afternoon/evening. Who wants the opportunity to get in on the ground floor of what we hope will be a great new addition to the site?

Bill Menard I will have a list for you by tomorrow.

I am going to be listing some nice stuff. Mainly Football and Baseball. It should be fun.

Will we be alternating sellers, or how does that work?

We can just go one person at a time, as posted in first post. Looking forward to your list!

Anyone willing to be an auctioneer around 5:00pm? We need a few more people.

The show and auction have been well announced and I really hope this will be a success for the site, sellers, and buyers!

All you need to do is show up in the chat room labeled FCB Community Auctions with 10 or so items and you will be given a spot to auction off your stuff.

Please let me know if you are interested!

Unfortunately there were server issues that led to some challenges today and I think the sentiment was that it would be difficult to run a successful auction if the site is having trouble. Chris has been working hard on the issues and they should not be a problem next time around, but meanwhile I think it is on hold. The Virtual Card Show will go on the rest of the evening though, and there's some real nice stuff there if you have not checked it out. Sorry about the auction, I know a bunch of people were looking forward to it...

I think I have a course of action that will solve this in the future. The server just couldn't handle all those attachments, and if I move them out of the database it should help load.
