Is there a way to make shipping standards?

Such as cards have to be in at least semi-rigid holders, in a penny sleeve.
Bubble mailer

Only trying to make it so expectations are the same for all, rather than pay $3.00 for shipping and a PWE shows up with the card in just a penny sleeve showing one paid $0.56 for postage.

we will write a help doc with rules including shipping standards. I want PWE to be a bad word on paid transactions

It's already supposed to be common practice to send like that, but you make a good point....now do people actually read the terms of service section when they sign up is another question.

From the "terms of service" section.

3. Trades: Once a trade has been agreed upon by both parties, it is the responsibility of each member to ship the card(s) securely and safely. Bubble mailers, or some other form of padding and protection, must be used. Delivery confirmation is also a must on ANY trade, regardless of value. Insurance is optional but strongly recommended.

no one reads anything

the only way to combat bad shipping practices is awareness

Just so you guys know. Eventually the plan is to charge a small fee per listing with no final value fees. This may or may not happen depending on popularity.

@cgilmo - Will this fee only apply if it sells?

Is there an e-mail notification opt-out option?

Just like everyone reads the owner manuals you get with computers, cars, etc. Ha. Not likely. I have not traded yet, but probably wouldn't use DC for a trade of "any" value, regardless of the rule. Some trades just aren't worth it. if it doesn't make it there and the other party squawks, then you deal with it.

I would think a small fee would be acceptable, once the auctions are going full force and things are selling close to actual value.

What is the fee? Fixed or percentage? I think if you have a fixed amount, the seller knows where to start bids.

I recommend a flat monthly fee, similar to a membership. It will encourage sellers to list lots of auctions and eliminate the need to factor percentages.

This but if you go the fee route. Has to be better "market" than eBay obviously.

I feel like a flat fee if item sells would work best if and when the auctions evolved to that stage.

I don't see any prior-to-sale fees working too well when anyone can throw something up on eBay with 1000x the exposure for free (if within monthly limit)

I don't know that charging a fee of any kind will ever work. It's just something I'm looking at.

Perhaps a fee for upgraded listings, some extra options etc... if it were modest, I think most folks would be on board and it would help offset some of your costs.

well for now and for the immediate future it's free and should be approached that way

I just point out that I may one day charge a fee if I think it's a good idea so people can't wine if it happens. (they still will, but thats another story all together)

Just a idea but.....

Perhaps you could make a auction where users could sell stuff and the proceeds could go directly to a FCB PayPal account...

So, for instance, the users could every once in a while add a card to the FCB auction(s), once it sells they ship the card as usual but the sale goes to FCB. An honor system for sure, but I think it could work.

Eh. Im pretty poor. But not poor enough for that. Im only mentioning a fee system because I don't want people griping if we go that route. For now its free and will stay that way for a while.
