Your name just fits with this thread great!

Yes indeed. It's right up my alley. :D

Coming from a Red Sox fan, that's an empty criticism to me. David Ortiz got curtain calls for like his first five homers of the year.

At least the Yankees didn't alter their stadium for one player so he could hit more home runs.

I love these threads! The Yankees are the best team in baseball and the trolls come out.

WHHHAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

And guess what? The Yankees just went back to back! 5-4 Yankees.

First team to 70 wins!

Go Yankees!

I say that's a different situation. Ortiz's struggles were so well documented and such a big story in Boston this year, that fans only wanted the best for him. He's been a fan favorite for years, so when he finally got the monkey off his back, fans were really happy for him.

*As far as I can remember, it wasn't the first "five" home runs. I think it was three, four at the most.

Hi, we're the Yankees, we have bought 26 World Series titles, and baseball is better off because of it because everyone hates an evil empire.

Have to admit baseball would be less interesting without a 'bad guy'.

They BUILT a stadium to help a player. ;)

From Wikipedia...

As Yankee Stadium owed its creation largely to Ruth, its design partially accommodated the game's left-handed-hitting slugger. Initially the fence was 295 feet (90 m) from home plate down the right-field line, referred to as the "short porch", and 350 feet (110 m) to near right field, compared with 490 feet (150 m) to the deepest part of center field, nicknamed Death Valley. The right-field bleachers were appropriately nicknamed "Ruthville."

..and we are too stubborn to realize the economy sucks, so we don't mind having empty seats behind home plate for nationally televised games.

..and we have no problem giving AJ Burnett 16.5 million 4 years from now.

..and we probably shouldn't have run Torre out of town.

..and we blink once to make more money than Bungle77 will ever see in his lifetime.

That's why I said altered and not built.

Why has the curtain call become so common in the past year or two? I'd say 90+% of them these days are unwarranted.

Getting knocked out of the ALCS by a team with less then 1/3 of your payroll - PRICELESS

Oh, by the way, I'm talking about the Rays and the Red Sox in 2008 if you didn't realize. ;)

I'm not a Bo Sox fan or anything, I'm actually a real Sox fan - the White ones.

Wow, shocking. Someone makes a post about the Yankees and its gets hi-jacked by people who feel the need to bash them.

First time that's ever happened.

In other news, pop icon Michael Jackson has died.

HOLY HECK! When did this happen and how!?!?

Also, on a seirous note - this wasn't a Yankees praise thread, therefor the bashing isn't hijacking. It's elaboration on the OP.
