I love that set.

As a teenager I got back into collecting around 98/99. That card along with the Payton/Sanders were like the coolest cards in the world to me and what I dreamed of pulling. Heck, I was even thrilled when I pulled the non-auto inserts, and at the time thinking how limited they were when they were #'d in the 1,000's or whatever. To me that is one of the cards and sets I will always remember......great card!!!

Thanks for the feedback. This is my favorite set to date and one card i REALLY wanted, The autos look great and not to bad of players on it. :D :D I purchased the emmitt/taylor a couple years ago from this set and have been in love with the set since. Steep price i know, but think it was worth it.

I think that is one of the nicest football cards ever made, but now is not a great time to buy IMO. With all of the Super Bowl hype, you probably could have got it cheaper in June or July, especially if the Colts lose. Very nice card!

Congratulations! I am biased in that I own one but I think that card is one of the greatest football cards ever made. On card autographs of two of the greatest quarterbacks in history and a beautiful card! As far as the price it's not a bad price in my opinion as I've seen copies sell for more. You never know what might happen with a PTT auto. It just depends on the timing involved and who has the money to spend. At the end of the day there are only 100 copies of the card and more and more of them are going to be locked away for years in private collections. The Payton/Sanders easily clears $2K and has been tracked at pushing $3K in the past few years. Personally I am surprised that the Unitas/Manning has not broke $2K.

I'm hoping to "pull the trigger" on a Manning card I've wanted in my collection for quite awhile. Keep the fingers crossed!

I understand what you are saying. However, the card seems to rarely pop up for sale and given the super bowl, brought a couple of opportunities for some of us. Thanks for the feedback.

My theory about Manning stuff is that the price is always jacked up regardless of what is currently going on with Peyton. For years a lot of Peyton's cards were priced on the assumption that he would win the SB and end up in the HOF. With that being said even being in the Super Bowl will not make a huge dent in the prices. He's won a SB, SB MVP, HOF lock and 4 time MVP. What more can he do to inflate the card values? The one time I recall his cards taking a big dive was after the playoff loss the year before Indy won the Super Bowl.

Great feedback RITM. You are one of the reasons i went for the card. I saw you pulled the trigger and posted it here, and finally decided i needed to do the same. These PTT cards are incredible in my opinion.

I just looked to see if I still had the data from past sales of the card. I stopped keeping up with it in the spring of 2008. At that point the lowest sale of that card was $1,477. A copy of that card also sold for $1,925 raw in the time I was charting them.

Great win! I would have to slab that for protection.

Great info RITM. I saw one just ended at $1300 also. Not a bad price i dont think but none the less I REALLY wanted the card. Slabbing would not be a bad idea either. Thanks again for all the good feedback everyone.

RITM,

doesn't it seem like this card rarely pops up for sale? The super bowl certainly helped for the last couple.

Certainly not often do they show up and a Super Bowl certainly has a way of bring out some serious cardboard. One of the most exciting things for me about Indy going to the Super Bowl was the fact that some amazing stuff would be posted for auction. Unfortunately for me most of the stuff I want has an unattainable BIN!

Incredible. Not a better dual Colts auto card in existence. If I am missing one, somebody clue me in. Would love to see it.

Although no 2 autos are exactly the same, that one looks nothing like the one the OP bought. The "J" looks completely off.

Here is one Burge just sold - real or fake? The Unitas looks off.

I have owned several Unitas sigs and learned that Johnny had several variations of his sig. I have never verified this but I have been told that Unitas had a lot of difficulties with his hands after football. Someone can correct me if I am wrong. Not saying it's real or fake, just throwing that tidbit of info out.
