F for the Beckham
C- for the Doubront
A for the Matusz
A for the Stanton
A for the Heyward

I would agree....I'm not a big fan of modern game used cards but the Stanton and Heyward are really nice. If the price is right (and a decent checklist), I might bust a case.

You will flame me for this, but the Beckham isn't that farking bad. I have seen worse. Remember the letter autos in football with the clear sticker over the letter? ::facepalm:: The Beckham is not worse than that.

I bet there are plenty clay sculpters that could make a pile of crap look pretty good too.

If it weren't for the sticker, that Doubront card would have looked fairly good. At least those annoying borders are gone.

I maintain if Topps were ever to bring back the design of 2000 Bowman Reserve, they would have had a winner. Those have always been the best looking cards Topps has ever made, IMO.

why don't they bring back the 99 gold label look? make a white fade at the bottom for on-card autos...

do they even preview these cards to customers to get feedback? it doesn't look like they do...

Why should they, when they always seem to sell out regardless?

I really don't understand why Topps couldn't have just inserted the whole aflac beckham card?

Anyways, SWEET patch cards like triple threads.

CRAP sticker rookie autos like co-signers.

This will get mixed reviews, but I hope they have an all-premium product coming out sometime next year as well, with on-card autos.

You guys are always so quick to praise the Razor Exclusive contracts.... well now you see the aftermath. This could have been a HUGELY popular product. Auto'd rookie cards of many many minor league stars.

If these are supposed to be the base brand like base Topps is for MLB, I'd give this preliminary effort of minor league rookies a definite 'A'.

Getting a new issue off the ground is tough by itself, but getting a new class of cards off the ground is even tougher. Topps needs to figure out exactly WHO will be buying these cards and I think they will find out through this effort.

Exactly correct. There is enough demand that they will sell out their supply and until they don't they have no monetary need to listen to consumer feedback. Now of course it isn't all about monetary need but also perception but Topps will always be Topps, the original

I only recall the exclusive contracts by Razor being used as a positive when discussing the future card pricing.

I don't remember reading "sweet, now Razor can only have autographs of Beckham!"

Every product that Topps/UD/Panini makes sells out from their perspective.

They aren't selling them to you and me. They sell to the distribution companies and hobby dealers.
Southern Hobby, Blowout, D&A. They are the ones who end up sitting on un-opened product.

From Razor's perspective it was a good business move.

However, I don't think anyone around here has been issuing a whole lot of praise for Razor lately, even those of us who liked them at the beginning.

Topps MiLB chrome could be a hugely popular product with no autos at all, just lots of nice parallels, so if these products don't work for Topps, it will be their fault and theirs alone.

Isnt that the meaning of Exclusive? No one else can use his autos?

And... it makes this product less desirable.

Are you lost or am I???

My response was perfectly clear and I know what exclusive means, I don't understand your response. Could you explain why you typed the underlined part?

You can't call that card razor's fault either. If you do not have the ability to obtain a players autograph do not try and twink the system to make something horrible just so that you can say you have the autographs in the product.

This product can be done well without Tim Beckham autographs, or autographs from any razor exclusive.

Exactly, clearly the initial reception for the product would have been much, MUCH better had the Beckham card never have been made or SHOWN to the public...

Personally I like them. I want to see what the base set look like.. or are they all autos? The Beckham looks pretty bad. .. but the other patch cards are nice. The auto base looks ok, I too hate stickers though. They just look like.. "Ok we are making theses awesome cards, and now we stick an ugly ass sticker on them." Look at the T206 this year, great concept, then you stick an ugly silver sticker on them. UGh.. when will they learn?

but on a side note, I am buying the product, I dig it

Not unless you want to pay around $500/pack.
