The best thing about this steal, I asked how much, and he told me $2. I asked him again thinking he was speaking to another person...He said $2.

$2!!! That is awsome, even if you had maybe a question in your head, maybe its fake, or "where does that patch come from? " Its sure worth a risk of $2, but i'm sure its real. That is awsome. I've never seen that card in a patch before!

The patch versions are numbered to /25.. I pulled a Pedro Martinez patch and a Derek Jeter Patch..

Great steal in my opinion.. Goo dluck finding out where the patch came from..

I have two of these, and I do believe the consensus is that the patch is not from anything Rivera ever wore. Nice card though.

I dug out mine and I guess you're right, they could have very well come from this patch. Nice.

So Rivera was never in the 2000 All-Star Game?

I guess this was a different Mariano Rivera that pitched in that All-Star Game..

Settle down there Geraldo. I didn't mean for you to get your ******* all bunched. I didn't see the All Star patch and the research I had done didn't show anything that would match something he wore. Buffoon.

Well, this "Buffoon" found the patch in only a few minutes.. with the internet it's not hard find patches these days.. "Bing.com" has improved searching for some items lately.. I know that most people use Google or Yahoo, but with M/S getting Bing out there, it's another site to look at..

Be weary of flea market sellers. Maybe this guy was legit on his tobacco cards, but it's best to know what you are buying. Really this advice applies no matter where you buy. I was at the Kane County Fairgrounds in St. Charles IL and this one guy had tubs of tobacco cards in screwdown holders. Cracker Jacks, T206, Goudey, etc. But on closer inspection, they were all reprints. Cut from Dover books or other reprint books. Not hard to tell if you are familiar with the original cardstock, but as always, and especially at flea markets, buyer beware. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Qualifies for steal of the year.

We really should have this here in a sticky. We'd all have to be on the honor system though.

Id throw my steal out there.
lincy reg ref xfr autos --300.00

In terms of % you should be crowned.

Okay im confused... is this a patch that Mariano wore before?

Yes. It appears that Mariano wore this patch in the 2000 All-Star Game in Atlanta, thus the reason for the "B" from "Braves" being on the patch. At least that's what I got from this discussion.

Got this nice little patch today at the market. The guy had a TON of vintage, most tobaco cards I have ever seen in person, and many other 1930-1960 cards. The guy must have made 2500 in the few minutes that I was standing there waiting to pay him for this.

Guy had a boatload of vintage and you bought a patch?!?!

I dont colelct much vintage, nor did I have a lot of money to be spending. I usually look for things to flip, so I dont invest heavily into something I am making a small profit on.

No sense in fronting $100 just to make $110 or $115 off of it. I rather not tie up so much money.
