Fly Eli a.k.a Elijah Dukes

Former Nationals outfielder Elijah Dukes has admitted that he would sometimes smoke marijuana before home games when he played for Washington.
In addition to this revelation, Dukes alleges that fellow players were smuggling drugs onto chartered aircraft and using them in hotel rooms after flights. He contends that he was "thrown under the bus" by baseball after coming forward with this information. Also of note is that Dukes is evidently trying a new career as rapper "Fly Eli." It's safe to assume that his career in baseball is over.

Career over, sounds like the best move for Dukes.

+1 I fell the same way about Doc Gooden and Darryl Strawberry. Both of them were lock HOF talents, with 10 cent heads. This is why steriod players do not bother me. They did everything they could to be the best they could be. Guys like Dukes are born with the talent, but do not have the discipline to work hard. Guessing he has no father figure in his life.

I apologize if I sound all preachy, but the reality is we never went through the experiences he has, and who knows where we'd be if we had. I wish him all the luck in the world. Over the last few years he's taken steps that seem to indicate he is trying to get his life together, and maybe this is the answer for him. Who knows, maybe in 5 years he resurfaces in the Bigs. It's happened before...
