As the new Sweet Spot jumbo patches have come out I really wanted an Eddie Mathews patch, as I am a big fan/collector of his. However after seeing several nice copies, I realized that the uni they used was a 1970's uni and that Mathews only wore the jersey/patch when he was a manager of the braves. For me personally, I would still like to pick up a copy, but it would have to be significantly less than what they are going for now. @ $200+ I'd say I'd give less than half of what they're going now. For me, on the Mathews card for example, I would prefer a patch used when the player was playing, thinking he hit a hr, or won a game w/ a hit in this jersey, not just that he, in his later years, sat on a bench and managed a game in. I know you'd never know that on most of the jerseys/patches, but IMO its better than knowing some old fart just threw on a jersey and managed a game (unless a hof manager) or shook hands w/ some old players friends on an old timers game and didn't do anything in it. (Using old fart jokingly) Same type of deal for event worn cards, photo shoot cards, old timers game cards etc. Some cards do elaborate on what they're from, but some that don't are obvious they aren't from the players era when they played. There is no right or wrong answer. Just thought I'd like to see some opinions/comments. Thanks
