Ross,
Did you pick up this 1995 Fleer Extra Bases Promo from Beckett?

I did, Steve Taft as you may assume. I had this guy sitting in my favorites box for awhile, waiting for a rainy day...then clarkfan made that thread and jackstraw shot me a message reminding me about the card...anyway, with all the attention the tests were getting in the thread, I figured I better grab it before this one disappeared on me like a few copies in the past.

Didn't want to see it wind up on eBay for 3 times the purchase price lol.

Yup, Steve Taft is the name. Still looking for the "rules" promo.

Glad you snagged it, it might have been sitting on eBay for the entire 30 days BIN/BO of.................$120ish! Know what I mean

What is going on in the world today?!

Man, this is like the *fourth* completely unprovoked/unpredictable battle I've gotten into since midnight.

I won't get into the other three - but check this out (since it's Thomas related) - I've been going through some really bizarre hoops to pay for that '97 Leaf Bat Card.

Paid twice, refunded twice; then PP invoiced from a completely different account. Me talking to PP and eBay, both recommending that I don't pay. eBay telling me that they're starting an investigation. PP telling me the same.

I mean...neither affect me personally, so I'm safe. (I didn't want to get the guy into any hot water, but that was out of my control. Even asked them not to - but they said it was policy)

But just overall:

WTF. :?

Did some cosmic alignment of Ugly just occur?

Wow.

Lance: Wow...WTF?! Why is the seller refunding your payment? Is it going to the wrong account? He has over 1k feedback and a 99% rating. Hmm...wonder what the deal is. Hope everything works out.

That's pretty crappy news Lance. A little odd too. I've bought 4 or 5 of the Clark error cards from him, never any issue whatsoever. Always shipped quick, and I've always paid through paypal without any problem. I wonder if he is getting a bigger offer from the winner of the other 3 to go ahead and sell to him rather than you. Obviously, my Clark cards have sold for far less ($16 to $99), but something is pretty odd with your transaction. I hope it still works out. I'd email the seller directly and see what he says is the problem.

I'll be honest, I'm as guilty as the next guy on "flipping cards". Hopefully, you guys won't be too upset if you see me doing it to a Thomas card, b/c I might if I get a decent deal :)

It's my way of being able to afford my Will Clark addiction, but this is an example of why I flip:

Nice!
I was gonna type out a long reply, but to be honest I just don't have the energy right now to warrant a lenghthy response. Buying a poorly titled auction and relisting it correctly is nothing like outbidding collectors who genuinely want the card, only to relist it via BIN/BO at 2x-3x the original price.

That's true. Most of my flips are from improper listings and rarely cards I feel were listed exactly how they were supposed to. Sometimes, based on poor timing, or you name the excuse, even a good listed item doesn't sell for what it should or what it has in the past.

Hey Lance,
I've bought from him twice already and havn't had any problem's with him or paypal on them. I also am not tring to get him to sell the bat card to me. "I'm going to lien on you to sell it to me when you get your replacment!" Hint, Hint.

Anybody see any Thomas cards from Triple Threads Yet??

First off, I know you're not trying to snake the card away. No worries. <nod>

We've been working diligently to resolve the issue. I honestly don't know why yourself and Clarkfan have had such smooth sailing. (had I known you were the winner of the other cards I would've reached out). But in my case - it's been very rough going.

HOWEVER, we've reached an accommodation that both of us can work with. <g>

So I expect delivery sometime next week. And if all goes well - my 'placeholder' will be ... uhm... in place. :D

As far as parting with it - believe it or not - I'm likely to hold on it for archive purposes. These unnumbered Pinnacle Brands products will, if my read is correct, be part of our discussions for years to come. And as time goes on and memories fade - that's when archives of this kind of material becomes really good for posts.

But OTOH... as long as I have good scans... <g><shrug>

This is probably premature - but let me say off the bat that I'm not "in love" with this card - and first chance I get to replace, I will. <wink>

RE: 1997 Fleer Diamond Tribute

It's not a refractor. It's... uhm... shiny diamonds. Does that make sense? Here's a scan of the card:

It's very reflective, but it's not a refractor... if that makes sense.

It sort of has a kaleidoscope effect.

What a year! Another Pinnacle Brands mystery solved. :D

97studiomasterstrokes.jpg

It's genuinely the first time I've ever seen this guy. No joke, no exaggeration. It's honestly been 12 years of hunting and searching.

And in another surprise - it would seem that indeed all 100 produced. Well, maybe that's jumping the gun a bit.

But I really want to know is: What happened to the rest? Were they all sold to collectors and dealers? Seriously, I would've thought at least a few would've made their way to the markets. Go figure.

My thanks to both Bull and Magic for alerting me to the auction. <nod of appreciation> Thanks brothers. <nod> ;-)

Also If I had known you needed the Info Page I would have sent one to you. I've had an extra for a few years.

I'm going to sell the extra Studio Portrait that I have. If anyone wants to buy, let me know.

Beckett list it at $20. Unless you want to bend over at Burbank and pay $60.
