It is in hand, correct. Very strange that the seller wanted to avoid the truth like that. I guess he thought he was getting a boat load of cash out of me.

Am I mistaken to say that it looks gold to me? What am I missing? Was it not what you thought it was?

Randy, the seller had listed it as a regular gold. The regular golds have a silver hologram.

The Grand Finale looks just like the gold but has a gold hologram and is limited to 50 copies.

Does anyone think a rare Thomas card could have commanded anywhere close to this in the early 90's if e-bay was around?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... K:MEWAX:IT

I hope that whoever wins this sells it to another sucker quickly.......I wouldn't want to be the one that loses thousands and thousands of dollars! Anyone remember the 1992 Brian Taylor Topps auto?

As soon as I had seen this card so ridiculously high, Brien Taylor was exactly who I thought about as well. Every time I pulled any Taylor from the 92 Topps I was looking for somebody to trade it to. Don't know if it was a gut feeling that he would be a flop, or just the fact that I was too focused on Thomas and Bagwell cards at the time.

Of course I'm always on the lookout for stuff I don't have. More Currently trying to knock out all of the Artist('s) Proof Cards from the 90's. Some are tougher than others of course. Other than that, always in search or rare parallels. When I figure out how to add pics to these threads, I'd love to share with you a few cards I picked up this year. Any suggestions on how that works would help me out a great deal 8-)

Do you know how to use imageshack.us ? That's what I use most of the time. Pretty quick & easy.

Oh nice, I forgot about Image Shack. Thanks for the heads up :)
Here are some of the gems that I have obtained so far this year. Check 'em out!

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Although, I need to put this beauty in a new case, how stoked was I when I found the 1996 Zenith Diamond Club parallel last month at a local hobby shop for just $10! Speechless!

Wow, what a deal! I thought I had one for $15 once, but realized that it was just the regular..... Once I got one it set me back about $90......I just got tired of waiting for one at auction.[/quote:u5442ls0]

Thanks! When I found this card, it had a thick layer of dust caked on the case as if it hadn't been moved since it was pulled, protected and housed in the shops display case since its inception in 1996! Crazy enough, the guy knew what he had but didn't hesitate to accept my $10 offer! Gotta love it. I've seen one or two hit the auction block over the past two years, both ending at well past the $75 mark.

Wade...truly historic grab. Much respect for that.

Randy...great lot of autos and hard to finds.

Awsome pickups for both of you.

My only mail today:

I got lucky and the seller ended this early for me. Had it listed as a gold and silver in the auction, but I thought I saw a gold hologram in the image. $20 later...

That's a pretty rad card, I don't think I've seen that one before. Nice grab! :)

**drool** Love that extra bases promo!!! Still looking for mine (at a realistic price!)

Steve Taft has a Gwynn on Beckett Marketplace for $50...........I think that is a pretty good price considering how limited the print run is (<60)

It's hard to tell, but did you receive the Grand Finale or the regular gold?

Also, Does anyone on this website trade Topps Attax cards? I've opened 10 packs and 2 boxes looking for a Frank Thomas or Bo Jackson and still no luck, but I have a lot of good trade cards and I love the foil cards. I may try to make a set of those and maybe even the regular cards if I have to keep buying.

Also, also, Still no word from anyone on any available 2005 Studio Portraits or 2007 Topps M&M cards of Frank Thomas (or Bo). I PM'd someone concerning a 2008 Topps M&M Frank card, but so far no reply. I'm also interested in any low numbered 2008 Baseball Heroes cards of Frank Thomas (or Bo). Any help in any of these quests would be most appreciated.

It's the Grand Finale...so I got a great deal I think.

Here's the original scan from the auction. Side by side it really made the difference noticable. By itself it may not have been as much.

Recent mail arrivals.........believe it or not, but the Ameritech phone card has 1 gram of .999 gold!

That's awesome. How do you get that card?

The extra bases card came from beckett marketplace and the phone card came from a company that sells collectable phone cards of all kinds.

Nice set Randy. I'm still working on mine :(

I have a question for my fellow Thomas collector's. I am confused .. is there a 1997 Donruss (base card) promo/sample card? I have seen cards on ebay described as sample/promo with no card number but can't seem to find anything about it in Beckett or the SCD.
