Feelin' lucky?

A zero feedback seller puts this up for a BIN of $40 and I snagged it. Then he posts another with the same photo with a BIN for $50.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Frank-Thoma...0878291708?pt=US_Baseball&hash=item23210c06fc

I have a feeling he used a stock photo - the wrong one. I can't imagine this guy has two Mirror Golds... or even one.

UPDATE** he messaged me back saying he used a stock photo and that he has two. I am now asking him to check serial numbers.

2nd UPDATE** he said that one is numbered 287 and the other is numbered 013. I told him the one numbered 287 could not possibly be a Mirror Gold, and that if it looks just like the one numbered 013, then he does not have the Mirror Gold (as pictured). Buyer Beware.

I saw this in my completed listings search and almost fell off my chair. If he sends the mirror gold team, that's one HECK of a buy.

It ain't. He's already refunded my money.

So next he changes the photos to the SAMPLE version of the Gold Team. I messaged him to let him know to change it - he doesn't have samples. After reading your post this morning I checked again. This time he used a different photo, but still he's picturing the Mirror Gold. And both have sold. What a mucking fess.

This guy has been really good about being responsive so far, but now he appears shady. That photo he just used to sell his most recent two - he just told me the following about your photo:

"I actually took that photo. Its my friends that he wants me to sell for him."

OOPS - I see now that he just sold a THIRD one, but this might be the real deal? Sold for $110.

Does Hawaiian Lance still collect? I was looking at his site and saw that it hasn't been updated in a while. I stumbled across this last night and thought his write up about it was interesting. Don't remember where I got it but I do know that I bought a collection from a Frank Thomas collector a while ago. He seemed to doubt the card existed. Does anyone else have this?

r frank thomas rookies worth anything

Depends on the card, condition, whether it's graded or not. Tiffany rookies, Leaf rookies, and some of the less mainstream pre-rookies tend to sell the best, especially in high grade (PSA 10, BGS 9.5)

For lower end rookies, like Topps, Score, Bowman, Fleer Update, etc, lots of 20 or more tend to sell decently.

All nice cards. Did you get them from Burbank? I've been slacking and need to post some of my recent pick-ups. It seems like the Thomas thread is pretty much dead. No one posts anymore. Not even that much on the other site. Do people still collect him or is everyone slowing down because his card prices are increasing?

Yes I did get a couple from Burbank. They have a ton of nice inserts....I know of 3 Thomas super collectors that have sold out there collection in the past few months. Seems some people are stopping, but yet his prices are climbing??

I think there are a lot of people picking up his cards banking on that he is going to get in the Hall of Fame. I am saving up for when that time comes because I have a feeling a lot of these rarer cards are going to show back up.

I have been picking up a ton of stuff, just don't really have the time to scan them with my schedule. I think it would be cool if we could create a page like the Juan Gonzalez collectors and have one central location to upload scans, talk about cards etc. I'm envious of what they've created over there, it's like their own little database. I'm always checking their checklist with scans of each card.

It would be awesome to set up a site like that! We should try to make it happen.

I've been buying less in quantity but spending a lot more when I have bought cards recently. The bump in pricing has been frustrating. I'm really interested in seeing what the PSA 10 1992 Super DK sells for! Who has been selling out their collections?
