Thank you, that's kind of you to say. <nod>

Unfortunately, it comes as a sign of things to come. Having lost one of my clients, I'm now ... 'free' I guess.

Silver lining moment: I can catch up on sleep, reading, and doing fun stuff like this. <g>

A big THANKS to HawaiianLance. I needed the Legacy Row 0 to finish these off. He hit the BIN on one and had it in his collection for all of about 2 days before obliging my request to buy it from him. Thanks again! :D

Digging through a few boxes, for other stuff, and came across this lil' gem.

1994 Ameritech Phone card. (unscratched!)

frankphone.jpg

It's available if someone needs it, so PM me if interested. Not looking to trade for anything, but figured if someone really needs it for their collection, this is the place to post it.

Lance,

i literally spent a couple of hours on your website the other night.

any chance we'll ever see the last half of the 90s?

also, do any of the players in my sig have anything that was in the 1998 Pinnacle Bankrupcy Stuff?

thanks,
Eric

I'm a half ass Thomas collector. I will occasionally slab some of the older inserts. I'm open to trading these and others for Twins cards.

Hi Eric,

Sorry, it's been hectic around here. Not the good kind either.

Anyway, to your questions.

I'm working on 1994 as we speak. These checklists are much harder than it looks from first glance - I suspect an advanced collector like OnionRing9 can attest to.

RE: Pinnacle Bankruptcy/Players

That's a complicated question. But I'll try to be brief and to the quick. <g>

I'd have to dig into the details to give you a more substantial answer, which I won't be able to do for a while. So I hope this suffices:

1998 Select. Yes to probably all, including the 'secret' Jersey Numbers parallel. Although I'd have to research which of them made it into the chase inserts like Numbers.
1998 Pinnacle Certified. Yes to probably all. So that includes all Mirrors.
1998 Pinnacle Collector's Club. Unknown. Info too limited to hazard a guess.
1998 Totally Certified. Likely to all. Though the evidence suggests at least some of the master sheets were destroyed per the order of the bankruptcy court; while others may have survived and been cut into cards after the fact. Oddly you see intact Golds, but not Blues/Silvers. The only example I have ever seen of a Blue is owned by a board member: Fandruw25
1998 Donruss/Leaf xxxxx* (product/s unknown) Crusades. If the collective research/guesswork by advanced collectors is correct - then if your players had a Crusade/CTA card issued via the earlier Donruss/Leaf products, then it's likely they'll have a corresponding Crusade/CTA - all three levels.
1998 Pinnacle Performers Swing For The Fence Upgrade. You'll have to do the research yourself on this one. <wink> But if one of your guys are checklisted in the group - then he likely has a corresponding upgrade. (Note: This is not the "Dealer Exchange" card)

Hope this helps. <nod>

Lance ;-D

Edited: Magicpapa and I were just 'talking' about this and I should clarify a couple of things.

First is - when I refer to the Pinnacle Collector's Club cards, these are the ones that were unissued. Club Members were given, as part of their membership kit, three (3) packs of club cards; one for each sport they had a license for - BB, FB, HKY. There were however other cards that were produced that were intended as "club member only" products - cards and collectibles that were intended to be available for purchase by club members. Here's one such product:

98teampinnaclepromokx9.jpg

I've seen a variety of other cards that fall into this category, so the list is still growing.

The second clarification - I just learned from Magic. Unlike 1997, Pinnacle had decided to combine Totally Certified into Certified as a tiered chase insert. Until a few minutes ago I had always presumed that they (Pinnacle) had done two separate issues. Thank you MP!

Thank You for taking the time to reply to my stuff.

Cant wait to see "1994", your website is a breath of fresh air to someone whos been around for a long time.

Also, it seems i have a LOT of "finding" to do when it comes to the 1998 Pinnacle Fiasco! LOL

Thanks Again,
Eric

Man, until you put together a checklist yourself, you can't begin to understand how hard it really is. So many nuances and variations it's ridiculous. Beckett barely scratches the surface of a collectors master list.

The early 90's was the hardest group of cards I've ever had to checklist. It has taken a group of about 15 of us over a year to put together a master list and we still aren't done! The second you think you are done, you find 10 more. And this is coming from a group of people that have all been actively collecting for the player's entire career. It's amazing yet fun!

Weren't most of these destroyed? My sources have told me 6 McGwire's exist. Usually when that happens, the full set made it out which means 6+ sets exist (and I'm pretty sure one was made per player in the checklist but I'm not 100% sure)

On a side note, these are the only undocumented variation I've found on Thomas (since he's on a mcgwire card) Not sure if you guys knew of these 2.
