Hey Chad, Thanks for showing me this site. Lance, How are you? Long time, no talk too! Chad, I might have some Tott to let go of but I don't know if it will be anything you want. I'll send you a email before i put them up for sell. It will be a few days.

Thanks Lance! Every time I think I have a good checklist of Frank, I seem to stumble across new variations that are not in my Beckett downloaded checklist. On one hand, it would be tough for them to be aware of each variation or obscure issue.....but on the other hand they are supposed to be the "experts"!

The N/A pricing in the price guides are really what irritate me....if they followed e-bay enough they should be able to fill in those pricing gaps.......sure there may only be 1 of a certain issue, but sometimes I feel as if there are 50 different 1/1's for any given card company over the last couple years and they all seem to sell between $50-100 each. What happened to the good ole days where a card numbered to 10,000 was rare?

Anyways, it is great to see all of these fellow Thomas collectors on here, as every card show I go to around the Chicago area I feel as if I am the only person that collects him anymore. Finding the pre 1997 issues at those shows is nearly impossible, but I get tired of e-bay at times.

For anyone out there that needs some extra cash in these tough times, just send me a message as I am buying pre-1997 Thomas cards.....mostly what I need are the parallels (first day issue/press proof/artist proof/mirror) along with some oddball issues from the early 90's.

Randy,
I checked your list. Sorry to say I don't have any extra's, and some of those I don't even have.

I agree, that really irritates me too. What really gets me is the "BV" they list on some of the 90's stuff. I would say 5% of it is accurate. The rest either sells for about 1/2 of "BV", or waaay over their "BV". Why bother listing "BV's" if you don't ever update them? "BV" died when Ebay got big.

You know whats even worse then "BV" is that Burbank Sportscards just flooded the beckett market and ebay market and a lot of the cards at 20% over "BV" or more. They just made it Impossable to buy anything. I like them a few years ago when the actully us auctions instead of buy it now. they will work a deal if you contact them before. 10% off $500.00. Make up 20%-30%. Why the heck would I want to do that Burbank? I think you can "Still" make money at 10-20% under "BV" because we all know they didn't pay that price for there stuff. What happened to selling to collectors for the fun of the hobby. We'll I guess once they get there bill for fees and there stuff not sell at high price!

Hey Chris,

Long time. <nod>

Apologies (as usual) for the delay in replying. This past week was insane. Sadly, it's the last 'insane' week I'll have for a while as 'insane' = 'money' in my world. Lost one client and the others are backing off their advertising. I'll still be in business (thankfully) but the free spending days are a thing of the past; hopefully of the future - although I'm sure many businessmen during 1929 thought the same thing.

Still, I went out with a blast picking up my last Burbank purchase for the foreseeable future. The 01 Ultimate Auto/15 completes the sig versions. I was never fond of the jersery version so it will remain a half a rainbow, but I'm satisfied. <g>

If it wasn't for the economy + the fact that (a personal opinion) a deceitful moron holds one of the Lettermans - you and I might be in talks. I still think about that "T".

Lance ;-D

I think I would sell my entire Thomas collection at Burbank prices if someone made me the offer....I would be a rich man! Most of the ones that I notice they are selling, and I am in need of, are more like 175% + of book.......being 28% short of my goal is causing me to up my original budget, but not quite to that point. At some point in time as I get closer and closer, Bur"bank" may start looking better to me, but not yet.

On a side note....Just recently finished the 1987-1990 part of the collection and am moving on to 1991-1993....outside of a couple of rare cards (1992 Super DK & 1992 Colla AU) I am burdened with being short of crappy oddball cards, including stickers, magnets, 7-11, etc, etc....Any sellers out there of these oddball cards, please send me a message and I can provide a list of what I need to buy. Thanks Chad for taking a look!

The cards I want that they have are around 500% of "book".

Lance,
At least I know I'm Not the moron Since I have the "S". Was the "T" the reason you didn't go hard for the "s". Also do you know what the other set of the 3 patches are. Wait, I should know, you probably have them! Anyway i saw that there are the 5 letterman that you and I and moron have and then there are 3 more. If you get the "T" let me know and I'll let you "Borrow" the "S" so you can see them all togeather and then I'll Bring mine back home.

Chad,
When I get a chance I'll put up some scans of my recent mail. I love to see the scans you put up. and on your and lance's sites. although, then again i see those cards that you two out bid me on, and then it hurts. no hard fellings though. just leave them to me when your done with them.

Hey Chris,

Apologies again, over time I mixed up which Letterman ended up with which Big Hurt Collector.

RE: S

No, I tried very hard for the S. You beat me fair-n-square. <nod>

However, the reason the "T" went so cheaply was because the sellers were colluding and shilling. By a weird quirk, the "M" and the "T" were busted from two small towns (IIRC) in Maryland; one right next to the other. Both played 'buyer' to boost the sale of each other's Letterman.

When the T didn't meet the reserve during the first auction, I noticed that one of the heavy hitters in the open auction happened to be the very seller I purchased the M from about two weeks earlier.

When I politely inquired why he was bidding on the T since he had just sold the M to me - no reply. When I looked into the situation (even having to request via eBay the bidder and seller's locations) I worked out that the bidder was in fact from a very small rural town that was located next to another small rural town in Maryland. And when I went back to the records of the original sale of the "M" - I saw that the seller of the "T" was the hardest bidder besides myself. It didn't take a genius to see they were shilling for one another. Friends or dealer/customer - it didn't really matter.

I told the guys I was in contact with at the time that it was open season as far as I was concerned - that I refused to be played.

When the T sold to the.... winning bidder - I can't tell you how disappointed I was.

RE: Other Letterman.

This is what I know - and it might be outdated since I haven't aggressively pursued the issue after the initial bust.

- The Home Jersey has been busted except for the "M".
- The Away Jersey is still packaged except for the "M".

Again, to the best of my knowledge. <g>

RE: The "T"

<lol>

I seriously doubt it. Once crossed - I don't reach out again.

But life has a funny way of working, one never knows eh?

RE: The "S"

And I really appreciate the "borrowing" of the S in that scenario. It reminds me of the scene in the movie 'Doc Hollywood' where the main character is trying desperately to get the repairman to fix his car - with no cash and the guy doesn't accept checks. The doctor asks, "Do you take plastic?" The guy says, "Sure do... when it's wrapped with a stack of cash."

Seriously. Thank you. I know that as fans of Big Frank, collectively we would all love to see a complete Letterman Set, even one that's mixed.

Edited I would like to add - The sale of the "T" was my impetus to start using a snipe program. eBay's b.s. hiding everyone's ID policy cemented that into place.
