I have an empy FP box with Big Frank in the window...I don't guess the kiddo in my was able to withstand eating the sugar sweet goodness...I did break the box down and keep it between cardboard though.

I think that FP box is from 1998 without checking to see the date on the card. They came out around the same time as the boxes with cutout Topps and UD cards on them.

edited: wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy off on the year, 2001.

Pretty big mail day for me. Won a lot of 19 PSA graded Gem Mint cards...including 4 upgrades to my Thomas set. Just gotta keep subbing a few of the cards that no 10s exist for and land myself a high grade NNOF and I'll be finished with a long running quest. Besides those slabbed cards, these came today:

This one is a beauty:

thefatguy: Very nice auto-patch! Can't beat the price. :D

BunchOBull: Looks like you had a nice mail-day! That graded RC lot was pretty impressive. What kinda condition is your Hitting Machine in? I got mine in Friday & some of them are kinda rough where the die-cut gears are. The seller did send a Piazza GM too though.

HawaiianLance: :shock: Thanks Lance! Wasn't expecting that at all. I really like the design from '97 SP Authentic.

With everyone watching the Leaf's, I got this for $53!

SCORE! Awesome pick-up!

Cobra Dat's one of them 'UD Compensation' cards - the ones that weren't inserted into the packs because of the placement of the hand numbering.

Question for all:

I suppose I can ask Halonut and Phillyfan who are the mods in that section, but what the heck, I'm here so...

Suppose I wanted to sell a card. If I get the offer - do I send it out first -or- do I take payment first and then send out? Common sense says 'get payment/send', but I'm unfamiliar with the board process.

Anyone have insight? {:-)

Payment first Lance. I believe there is a transactions forum to post the deal in as well.

Chad, the GM is pretty good overall, only one place that is bothersome, but the scan makes it look worse than it is...right about Frank's head on the tooth of the gear. The surface isn't missing, just a bit separated.

<nodding>

Thanks Bull - I've been checking it out.

I dunno why, but I always end up with a complicated problem when addressing (seemingly) simple issues. In this case I have to "prove" the validity of an offer I'm working on.

<sigh>

Thanks again. :)

I am wondering whats in the commons that has caught your eye 8-) ?

<laughing>

Seriously - nothing.

I'm telling you the Lord's Honest Truth. <hands raised in defense> {:-D

Look, here it is:

I busted a few boxes of Artifacts in the insane hope of getting the you-know-what. Three boxes, no Thomas, but I pull the best auto. Problem is that I don't collect Captain Clutch - so what am I going to do with it?

I could go the eBay route - which I detest - just too much hassle. Or I can try to swap it for something I want...like a bunch of commons. Since I don't do boxes anymore, except on the rare 'Lotto/Hail Mary play' like the Artifacts or Donruss Collections - I'm always picking up commons to fill-in the blanks and for giveaways to friends.

'Sides, it's fun looking at cards I never knew existed. (especially from 2002-04)

To me this was a win-win. But 'book value' trumps 'actual value' for some. <shrug>

Send me the list of what's in his commons lot & I'll go through my extra's and try to find 'em for ya. Seriously. No way is that lot worth 1/2 of what that auto is worth.

Does anyone need one of these? Found a pretty good deal on one.

Thank you Chad... I wasn't fishing for extras - honest. :-D

This is, at least for me, spiraling dangerously toward 'drama'; and I avoid that like the freakin' Black Death Plague. (even though I was once vaccinated against it <laugh> And yes, I know, it's worn off)

This looks to be yet another testament to my Himalayan pile of aborted trade attempts - and another reason never to open discussions up for trades in general. My life is so much easier, even if a bit more cramped, just sitting on the extras I've accumulated.

<sigh>

Ah well - Life goes on. And besides - CheckOutMyCards for me soon enough. <wink>

;-D
