I bought many boxes between 1990-1996, but for some reason I was cursed to never pull a Frank insert. I would have passed out if I had pulled that card back in the day!

Congrats, Ross! I looked at it, and he did ship to Canada, but I just don't have the money.

Nice bat Ross. I bet you're happy w/ the price huh.

About the "best Frank I ever pulled" topic....I never pulled anything great of anyone. My best & only good pull was a '96 Ultra Thunderclap GM McGwire (1:720).

Thanks guys, and yes, very happy Chad.

It looks like a legit gamer to me with pretty heavy use and the crack isn't really that bad.

Well...I'm finally starting to organize and take pictures of all my Frank Thomas items and other memorabilia. Consider this just a teaser for whats to come. I'll let you know when I do another update. I wanted to put this on your radar. Its gonna be quite a daunting task to complete and fulfill, however it will be very rewarding and I will be able to share my collection with you guys. Below are the two domain names that I will be operating out of....

frankthomasmuseum.com
bighurtmuseum.com

I've got a rough idea of how I'm going to organize the site. Next up is taking pictures of all the items. I'm totally jazzed about this as its been a long time coming. I hope you dig it.

Looks like the site is starting to come togeather! Good luck with it.

Thanks much. The basic layout is complete all thats left to do is create some photo albums and I should be good. That said, I'm gonna be taking a lot of photos these next couple of days and hope to have all the content up for everyone to enjoy by the end of next week at the latest. I'll be sure to keep everyone posted. Hope I don't run out of room LOL.

Hey guys I have a question about the 1998 Donruss Diamond king (card 18 of 20) Thomas. Recently I picked up a version with the canvas front but it is numbered to 10,000 on the back. I thought these were serial numbered to 500? Does anyone have any info on that?

Thanks,

Matt

I believe that the first 500 produced of the 10,000 were canvas, and the remaining 9,500 being standard. I was surprised to see that card go for as little as it did.

Thanks for the information Randy,
I was hoping that might be the case.
I know I was very surprised I got it for that low...I will take it though.

I'm not a Thomas collector but I have an item I wanted to see if anyone else had ever heard of or seen....

I'm sure most of you are familiar with the action figures from the mid to late 90s "Headliners" by Corinthian

There were a few different Frank Thomas' over the course of their run but the first one, in 1996, is the rarest figure they ever produced.

The packaging on it would resemble this: http://cgi.ebay.com/1996-HEADLINERS...ultDomain_0?hash=item335c129fa7#ht_500wt_1182

I was a big time Headliner collector looking to complete the sets. The Thomas was pictured in their original ads but was so rare that I had to get in touch with a distributor to figure out how to get one. As I was told at the time, the baseball series in 96 (again, the inaugural series) was sold in 8 different case allotments.
In the first few cases there were a few decent players like Ripken but mostly guys like Lenny Dykstra and Paul O'Neill sat on the shelves for a long time. These were the cases that most retail stores (walmarts, kmarts, toys r us) were getting. Some stores would order further cases for different players, making up the next bulk of the set. Case #8, however, was full of absolute crap... Dykstras and the like... all retreads... then 1 Frank Thomas.

My understanding is that most stores didnt even consider case 8 from the get go, but those who made it that far knew enough to not want all of that crap on their shelves.

Thus the 96 Frank Thomas barely got produced... Or is sitting in a warehouse somewhere.
I was able to order one of these cases around that time through a distributor of some sort and have the only one of these I've ever seen.

Anyone else ever seen one? Do you own one? I'll try and post a pic the next chance I get. It's at my parents' house at the moment and they live 3 hours from me.

Yes the white border. I have the Jordan as well, but the Thomas is obviously more important to me. It should be here today or tomorrow I believe. I'll scan when it arrives.
