could tribe live with a .295 25 100 3b w/ a .975 fielding percentage?

Those offensive numbers are a reach in my opinion.

Best case season
23 homers .280 .330 .450

And I do not believe him to be a major league third baseman, ever.

These numbers are only my opinion, and I am not a professional.

RBI's are difficult to project without knowing what lineup will be around him or where he will hit, so I don't bother trying.

you say you dont believe he will be a mlb 3b, and i respect your opinion. but do you not think he can improve on his defense and get better?

No, I do not. This is a talent issue and it has plagued him in college and in the minors.

i hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it's quite probable that Wess Hodges is going to be more like Ron, than Gil, when it comes to his MLB career.

i understand that anything CAN happen, but he will be 25 this year and has yet to have an AB above AA

so, out of curiosity, if you had a player who could put up the numbers you suggested where would you put him? remember the organization is pretty stacked at first base and hafner will be dh'ing for a few years. i think anyone has the ability to get better.

i think most people forget that fact. drafted in 06; 07 first full year ; '09 AAA; '10 MLB not bad in my opinion. if not mistaken will play whole year at 24

I think this comes down to the same thing, he's a nice player but he doesnt really project to be a star. If he did, they would be scrambling to find him a position to play. This is really not a knock of Hodges its just that, IMO, he is not a star, he's a solid ML player.

ABN,

If 1b is locked, then he would have to move to a corner outfield spot. Keep in mind that Nick Weglarz is a better hitter than him, and higher rated by the organization.

true, and he did play alot of 1b at AA last season. but according the articel the organization is happy with him and plan on him being a good 3b in the future. will he be a star like a chipper or rolen, doubt it. will he be a good 3b, i think he can be succesful

He has a hard road to climb in my opinion.Because Martinez will get the most playing time at 1st with Shoppach catching and a Healthy Hafner being the d.h. [Fingers Crossed on Hafner].
Garko is getting a serious look at LF and can d.h. if Hafner struggles.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Peralta the starting 3rd baseman in 2010.
