good morning guys...

not much new here today.. hoping it warms up a bit and the breeze dies down so that maybe I can get a couple of hours fishing in. with all this downtime I've done practically everything I needed to do with my collection already. so aside from all the wheelin n dealin on tradeboards to kill some boredom, my collecting hobby is slowing down a bit. Its now officially fishing season so that will start picking up for me.. slower than I'd like with the neckbrace on but once Im fully healed it'll be as much as I can get out there basically and as many tourneys as I can make with my club for the rest of the season.

Good morning boys!

Busy most of the day today. Turns out that even though they remodeled the inside of the house, they didn't change the locks from the foreclosure. :?

So, I have to buy a new handle and deadbolt today. :D

congrats Charlie!

changing all the locks regardless would be first on my list of to do's moving into a new place. I did that at my current apartment and my sister in law lived here before me for like 20 years LOL.

BTW I dunno if you collect Hawk everything.. but this is up and these are tough as hell normally.

Hey all,

As threatened, here is my most recent non-sport auto.

Used ebay bucks and bing to get this for a pretty good deal. Didn't especially need/want the graded version, but it was about $10 cheaper than the non-graded one.

So, for all you old guys, or for the cool guys who understand how much cooler TV shows used to be, I give you my latest:

sc00009e4d.jpg

When I was a kid, we used to watch reruns of this show all the time. Napoleon Solo (NOT Napoleon Dynamite) was one of the guys who was the epitome of cool to me.

This card came from a set that Strictly Ink (Brit company) was going to make, before they dropped the project. They had Robert Vaughn sign the cards, then scrapped the whole enchilada. Would have been boss to have a new set of "Man from U.N.C.L.E." cards made, but at least I got this one! Far as I know, there are no other actors/characters who signed preliminary cards for the set.

Scan shows it as blurry, but it is quite sharp in person. Wish my ancient scanner could scan BGS holders more clearly. Any suggestions on adjusting the settings to eliminate the blurriness?

Andrew,

how are you feeling?

did you see the huge lot of disc variations of Rod Carew that just hit Ebay at .25 each? the guy listed some Canseco discs so I was checking what else he had and there were many Carew variations. I dunno why but Im more drawn to these oddball type items.. maybe because my guy was in so many sets of stuff like that in the 80's and some were really tough to find.

Hey Paul, feeling okay. Going back to doc on the 19th so I can sit in the waiting room for at least an hour, go back in the examining room and wait for 30 mins, and then have him come in for 8.9 seconds to tell me to go get some more blood work done and come back in a month. :x

I am envious of your going fishing!! It has honestly been probably 15-20 years since I have gone. Used to love lake fishing and mountain stream fishing. Not so much a salt water/deep sea fishing person; I prefer the calm of lake/river angling. :)

How are you doing? Any doc appts lined up?

Do you have a link to the discs?

I have a couple of Carews, but know there are a bunch more out there. I like oddball stuff a lot. After getting the base cards of Carew, I am more interested in stuff like food issues, premiums, etc.

Yep, Chris watches that show all the time and gets tired of me talking about David McCallum being on "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." :)

Hey Chas, did you show any pics of the new homestead yet? I might have missed them, so if you get a chance, would love to see them again.

I go May 5th for my next visit.. gotta go to the hospital for an xray and then the doctors visit after. Im a freshwater fisherman too.. I have all the salt water in the world less than 5 minutes ride from me and Ive never taken to fishing it.. they may be bigger fish but most of the time its just plain easier since the species around here are very abundant (bluefish and striped bass). when I was in my early to late teens all I did was fish..every local pond I could get to as often as I could. last year I picked it back up after not doing so for a good 15 years.. I rediscovered that passion I had for it back then. I don't know what it is but I find it relaxing and for now its healing me mentally.. killing that mental boredom and frustration I feel.

here's the link to the Carew's.. I was wrong they are .99.. the Canseco's were .25 but still cheap and he has ALOT of them.

I agree with the relaxation of fresh water. I live about 5 miles from the Pacific here, but much prefer heading inland.

I will definitely check out the carews. Good price!

Holy moly! First we have an Uncle Remus reference, now, a Man From U.N.C.L.E. reference. Andrew, that is a sweet pick up, to say the least! I used to pretend I was Napoleon Solo, sans the Brit accent. When my wife and I watch NCIS, I reference Man From U.N.C.L.E. but my wife is 11 years my junior and doesn't quite get the connection. ;)

Seriously, not too many guys cooler than Robert Vaughn. 8-) I even have about a dozen of the vintage paperback novels of the show.

Chris pretty much ignores me when I reference "old man" stuff. Doesn't stop me from doing it, though. :)
