My daughter and I had a great time - Statue of Liberty, Ground Zero, Time's Square, Yankee Stadium, lunch with Derek Jeter....all courtesy of Upper Deck for completing the Yankee Stadium Legacy set.

Derek Jeter was again a class act, super cool to Madeleine, and took time out to chat with a bunch of kids on the internet. We got a tour of Yankee Stadium which was extra nice because it wasn't crowded. The Stadium is absolutely magnificent. They have auto'd balls from teams from the '20s, 30's etc, a Gehrig jersey from 1930. They had a statue of Don Larsen and the release point starts a long plastic display case that is filled with auto'd baseballs of everyone to ever play for the Yankees. I think they had almost 1,000 of the 1,600 something so far. There was a Thurman Munson clean on the sweet spot right above a Rickey Henderson. I need to get a cable to get the pictures off my camera.

My daughter got on the field for batting practice and had a great time. A.J. Burnett, Nick Swisher and Phil Hughes, and of course Jeter, were awesome to her, signing and chatting/laughing it up. Joe Girardi wasn't overly social, I'd imagine serious before the game, but he signed for them. Mariano Rivera took the time to sign and as one of the boys was from Panama and idolized him, that was a huge thrill. Phil Coke and Alfredo Aceves also signed. I hate to do it, but I have to point out that Alex Rodriguez was a dick. Good job with the kids ARod.

At lunch UD had a bunch of packs to rip and Madeleine pulled a Jeter card. Derek signed a few things at lunch for everyone then we took the tour of the Stadium. When Madeleine went on the field she took that card and a ball she had bought at a shop outside of the stadium and asked Derek to sign them. When she came back into the stands she gave them to me and said , "Happy Father's Day." She asked him to sign both of them - To Tommy.

Great city, great game, great time and great gifts. Thanks again to Upper Deck, Derek Jeter and My Daughter!!!

Congrats, awesome experience. Did you get to talk to Jeter at all? and just curious as to why was Arod a "dick"? did he not acknowledge the kids or just ignore them completely? Did you see Teixeira?
Either way great to hear your daughter had a good time!

Fantastic! Best part of the story was how your daughter got those pieces signed for you for Father's Day. Congrats on a great experience to have with your daughter that you two will always remember.

Talked to Jeter a bunch. He remembered Madeleine from last year when she won a trip to a clinic at Legends Field and we had lunch with him in the clubhouse. We talked about the Yankee Set, his mom, stuff like that. During lunch everyone at the table was asking questions and he had no problem answering everything. He broke off at one point to ask my daughter how she has been and engaged her in conversation which I though was great because I it made her feel special as everything else at the table was Q&A type stuff.

Rodriguez ignored the kids. Madeleine is 11, and there were two boys about 7 and 12, he probably could've said hi. To each there own, but he was the only one to totally blow them off and they noticed, as the boys brought it up when they came back into the stands. They tried to talk to him, but I guess he was in a hurry to go 0-4.

Teixeira was taking swings before ARod. Madeleine was talking to A.J. Burnett when he finished up and didn't talk to him. Burnett was cool. She told him she was from Little Rock and he is from North Little Rock - that sorta thing. Nick Swisher was laughing with them also.

Yeah, I didn't really know how to put that into words - but that was great. I don't know how many here are dads and if your children are right at twelve years old, but for her to think of that was just awesome. The kid had a plan!!!

I'm a Red Sox fan, but Jeter gets how to be a superstar. His staying through the entire All Star game last year and signing on the dugout in the extra innings was an image I will always remember.

That's awesome about Jeter engaging in convo with your daughter, extremely lame on Arods part I mean he has to at least take note that it's not everyday these kids get to come to Yankee Stadium and actually talk and hang out amongst them, he had to at least think something was going on. thanks for sharing the story/experience.

Even if I think Jeter is overrated, atleast he's a great guy, unlike A-Rod, who's a great player but a complete dick.
