The certified mirror gold griffey card auction part 2

When I communicated with the seller he claims the figure of 30 was correct but with the bankruptcy, another 30 or so may have been released, a total he says of 60 to 70 released. Does anyone have any facts about the card to support or deny his claim? I was under the impression that there were many more than that limited print run and thus the card sells for @ $65. Any information appreciated

That seller along with Teawolves are a bit of morons in my opinion. Those cards are by no means as scarce as they list them. I've seen scans of 50+ 97 mirror golds of the same card. I paid 40ish for the regular mirror gold from 97.
Yeah, the CERT STARS version aren't limited as all. I'm sure George and other hard core player collectors can attest to that.
It's the normal base Mirror Gold that's /30.

Not so fast Russ. Neither of them seem to be that scarce. There are more than 30 out there.

A few years ago, D&A most have sold 50 to 100 Griffeys in a 6 month period. They were probably left over stock from when Pinnacle went broke. I believe that there are a couple of hundred of them.

It looked good to me, but I decided to do a PSA quick opinion. Their reply was "Likely Not Genuine"

Here is the auction, [ebay:2vj63bb8]390135261772[/ebay:2vj63bb8]. The seller has been selling Griffey autos for years and I always thought they were good. Now I don't know. Guess that I will skip it. Don't want a possible fake.

The "J" makes me think its fake. Looks like an older school "J" and not the more like the figure 8 looking "J" ?
If that makes sense? I guess what I am saying is it looks like it could be fake.

Merry Christmas to all

The seller has 100% feedback and is selling what else- A 1989 Griffey Jr Auto Buyback from (he says) 1994. I checked with Michael and he is unaware of any release in 1994. I can't find it in any of 3 different price guides and when I brought all this to the attention of the 100% seller he says its the 3rd one he has sold. He has COA's with the card and the card and COA match. I explained to him we had seen alot of these and isn't it peculiar that he should get 3 of these nonexistant releases to sell?

He sent me scans in 3 emails which show the listing in Beckett Almanac for the 1994 Mantle / Griffey cards - 3 variations of 1000 as you all know but nothing which mentions anything about this release.

He is about to hit up a 3rd innocent buyer and I think its a shame he continues to sell these cards asking $500. I told him if they had been released, they would have numbered much less than 1000 and sell for more than $500. He acts innocent enough but after 3 of these, he's not.

I forwarded his emails to Michael and will contact ebay. Its weird how some sellers convince themselves they are selling real stuff even when confronted with facts they are not.

This is the email from the seller of the card I linked in my last posting. I also wrote him with a link to the forum and perhaps we will be hearing from him soon

Dear brinn1,

Hello
I sent front and back scans to your e-mail as attachments. Let me know if you did not receive them.
This is the legitimate 1994 release. I have sold 2 others just like it in the past 18 months and have another one in my own collection. Of course you can decide for yourself.
According to the Beckett Baseball price guide there were 1000 cards released, only in series one packs.
Let me know if you have any other questions and thank you for shopping my store. Brian

One last thing

I am catching up on posting my collection on photobucket. I have many of the 1/1's , all the buybacks, and all the short printed hand numbered cards. I am working to get the whole thing up soon within days. I'm next going to enter the 17 1/1 Griffey/Rookie 2006 Exquisite cards and the Redemption /3 "GRIFFEY" Auto letters from 2007- don't know how many of you have seen these- they are cool.

Anyway an open invitation for anyone who had previously "given up on me" ever posting my collection to see what I've done and follow it over the next week.

Steve, I've corresponded with this guy several times, I'm sure it's been posted in this thread sometime ago when he first started listing these. I think he knows what he's selling isn't legit, I also think he doesn't care.
