Hey I don't know if you guys collect non-auto Griffey but a guy at the shop I go to is putting an 07 Sweet Spot Update patch from the WBC jersey and its half of the USA flag, its going on ebay tomorrow I think..

Edit: this was at $610. One canceled bid and down to $14.

Even with that retracted bid, you know it's still going to take a bid of 600+ to be the top biddder. I wouldn't mind owning that card though.

I like how they just slapped the mattews auto right above all the writing like they didn't know what else to do. Ruined the card for me once I saw that

Griffey Jr. experts, I hope you can help me out here. This is regarding the 1994 UD Mantle/Griffey auto card, is there a reason "why" some of Griffey's auto has a tail on the end of his "y"? Here are a couple examples of his auto "without" the tail on his "y"....

and with the tail on his "y".....

and lastly, is this authentic in your eyes?

With the fake Griffey 09 UD buyback autos popping up on eBay, it made me wonder about these autos. Hope someone can clarify this, maybe Magic? Your help much appreciated

I think that when you have to sign over 1,000 of the same cards, your signature will be different on some cards..

Do they have the COA sticker on them? If they do, you can contact UDA and find out which auto they are supposed to be..

Thanks Pin for the input. The first three scans came off of eBay and just made me wonder "why" some would have a tail and others don't. I presume he started out with the tail as most of his current auto's also do not have a tail.

As for the last card in question, authentic, it's mine and the reason I'm asking....it's from the same seller that has the Griffey Jr. 09 UD buyback auto (13/89) that is pretty much deemed "not authentic" although authenticated by Beckett.

Mine also came in a Beckett slab but, I cracked it open to match my other Heroes cards. I'm gonna contact UD on the serial number from my card.

My Griffey only has the tail, it has the hologram and I figure it is real. AUA40555

my dual also has the tail, it was a buyback inserted by UD a couple of years ago.AUA40203

Here is Bruce's Griffey only, no tail

Only the duals are suspect, so it seems that he signed both ways.

None where released in the set. There were probably unsigned cards at UD, knows knows if they were backdoored.
I have never seen one in the past 15 years.

I can't help but to think this isn't real either. The auto looks exactly like the autos on the suspect 89 buybacks as well. I've asked for a scan of the back of the card but haven't gotten a response either. What do you guys think?

I agree that it is fake.

The buyback on Ebay 37/89 looks legit. The seller sent me the hologram number and it is in the right series.
