Question for the Group

Hi
QUESTION FOR THE GROUP :?:

2006 Bowman Chrome Gold Refractors #81 Ken Griffey Jr.
This card released in 2006 has /50 stamped on the back.

Listed in Beckett is an unnumbered refractor #81, not worth much.

If one has a GOLD Refractor #81 from 2006 Griffey jr which is not stamped /50,
1. Is that a gold refractor of 50 that Bowman forgot to stamp
or
2. Is that the unnumbered refractor mentioned in Beckett

I'm thinking its the Gold refractor without the stamp as I don't see why the low value unnumbered refractor would be identical to the /50 GOLD ones ie be an unnumbered Gold refractor.

Anyway I've got 3 of the unnumbered ones and 1 of the /50 ones, they look identical minus the stamp and I remember something about this a while back but needed one of the experts to tell me

Thanks
Steve B

That Gold Power Alley Di Cut is awesome. I've never even seen one of those. I remember pulling a Jeter back in the day, but I thought it was green. How rare are the Golds?
greens /3750

blues /1750

golds /750

die cuts /250

hey guys..I know i'm throwing this question to the other griffey wolves but has anyone seen the 2010 topps chrome superfactor yet? I have all versions but the superfactor and would love to complete the set. IF not possible i'm happy with where i'm at, overpaid for the gold but you win some lose some i guess.

Question for Group

Hi
Question for any of the scholars

If I have a 1997 Finest #342 Refractor - How can I tell if it is "embossed" or not?
Others have given me things to look for, but nothings really made much sense to me.
Thanks in advance
Steve B

Re: Question for Group

That is not embossed. The embossed ones are easy to id, his picture is raised on the card.

thanks Roy

Thanks Roy,
The embossed one still says "refractor" under "rare" on the back AND the Griffey figure bulges out?

I seem to remember the bulging out of Griffey on one of the non-refractor lower priced variants of the cards- is that true or not?

Thanks again
S

On the back the player will be recessed in, not bulge out. Yes, there is also a embossed die-cut (non-refractor). They are also very tough to find. The emossed cards also have die-cut edges like the '99 Finest gold refractors.

Here is a Nomo that ended, you can see what the edges looks like. Both the regular and refractor embossed cards have the diecut edges.[ebay:2gnnzmue]110609907403[/ebay:2gnnzmue]

Yes the die cut edges are easy to see and I do have a die cut embossed NON refractor of the card. You say these are hard to find? How does the value compare to the die cut embossed refractor version of the same card?

Thanks in advance

Well it defiantely varies from player to player.
They don't compare to the embossed DC refractors, but are somewhat comparable (a little under) to the gold refractor & embossed silver refractor IMO.

OK, so I've decided awhile ago I need to thin out the cards (and my fat butt as well)..

So I will be listing one of these in my store, but I'm not sure which one yet.. Which one would you guys keep.. #1 or #2

#1
griffey-dual-patch02.jpg

#2 Bye-Bye

EDIT: Thanks for playing.. The choice has been made.. I will be keeping #1 and selling #2.. (by the way it's gone!) ;)

So, I owe a big thanks to pinbreaker for giving me a good deal on this card....and he was generous enough to wait for me to get the money for it (i had to lose 20lbs to be allowed to buy it...my wife). I havent been able to scan it in yet, but i noticed he still had it in his bucket. So here it is, such a beautiful card!! Thanks again Kevin!!

I was also able to pick this one up off ebay...really like the gold autos from earlier years and when i can pick them up for a good price, i will try. Just got lucky with the timing of the listing and it coinciding with me being able to spend the money.

And i will also be adding a final two cards that i picked up from Bruce when they arrive. Thanks again for helping add to my on-card autograph collection! Those two will give me 77 on card autographs (74 if you dont count sweet spots).

Oh and does anyone here have any interest in this? I got it as a replacement and want to move it because its not my type of card. LMK if anyone wants it!!
