Hey Guys, just got in a white whale of mine that I have been after for a while. In april a bunch of these got listed but unfortunately I missed them due to being in law school finals. I don't really collect Griffey but having family roots from Tacoma made him a childhood hero of mine and this is one card I really wanted.

First and foremost I wanna thank JPCZ for hooking me up with a Member of the forum who was looking to move this item, he was awesome and really went out of his way to get ahold of me. Members like him are what making trading/collecting awesome!

Second I want to thank gimmetheremote. He was the member/friend JPCZ hooked me up with and he was awesome and a flawless seller. Everything came quick and the transaction was painless. It seemed so easy for a card that I had been chasing for a while, almost too easy and I really want to say thank you to him.

Anyways here is the card #48/99, it is in perfect condition.

Hi all. I'm back to the forums after some time off.

Anyone have a 1998 Topps Tek Griffey, pattern 66? Last one I need for the set!

Red text... I have no idea. I have two versions, but haven't seen this one. Awesome find! How did you get it / see it?

Would love to know, for documentation purposes.

The gold with red text came from a framed set that you could get through a redemption. There were supposedly 200 something #ed framed sets. I don't remember the exact number. I have only seen two framed sets and a couple singles in 15 years. I bought both of them sold one as a set and broke one up to sell as singles many years ago. I still have a few that didn't sell back then no longer have the Griffey.

The Gold with silver letters I have no idea where they came from. I don't remember seeing them when the product was released and always assumed they came from the same place a lot of Score/Pinnacle came from during that period the backdoor. I saw a seller recently on Ebay that had six of them said he got them out of packs so maybe some did make it into packs. Neither of them are common but the ones with silver letters pop up on Ebay once in awhile.

Sorry to pollute the Griffey thread with Thomas but here is an example of the three different Frank Thomas cards.

[h=3]Stand and Deliver[/h] This 24-card set is broken into six separate four-card groupings and was part of a contest. Groups contain players from the following teams: 1-4 (Braves), 5-8 (Mariners), 9-12 (Yankees), 13-16 (Dodgers), 17-20 (Indians) and 21-24 (Wild Card). The four players featured within the Wild Card group are from "lesser" teams whom Pinnacle Brands thought had no shot at winning the 1997 World Series. Since the Florida Marlins won the World Series, the four Wild Cards wound up being the winning cards.
Hobbyists who held all four cards of the 1997 World Series Champion (or the four Wild Cards if one of the five selected teams did not win) could mail them to Pinnacle for a special Gold version of the set. Gold Stand and Deliver was limited to 275 sets and came encased in a glass frame. Because of the unusual distribution, Gold Stand and Deliver singles are difficult to find. The gold cards came in two different flavors, gold with silver letters and gold with red letters. The gold with red letters version is extremely rare.
All 24 cards come in 3 versions:

  • Silver with gold letters
  • Gold with silver letters (rare as only 225 sets were produced)
  • Gold with red letters (extremely rare, print run is unknown)

Here's a Griffey card with some 14K gold in it. I'd trade it to anyone who has a Ripken of the same nature.

I was going through some stuff i forgot about for years and came across a 2000 Bobbin Bobbers Ken Griiffey JR. Whats this worth? Never seen any since. The corners on the package are bent, but not bad. the card is still in mint as is the bobble head and the incasement.

Thanks! I love the Allen and Ginter framed autos and have long awaited the day to see a Griffey in that set. I very likely overspent, but I don't regret doing so, at least not this time, haha. I just sold my 2012 Topps Gypsy Queen Griffey auto. I really only collect the 90s stuff, but I liked the look of the Gypsy Queen auto, and bought that one as well, but sold it to pay for some others. I've got a couple of the Playoff Prime Cuts Jersey autos. One is the jersey "JUNIOR" variation and the other is the "GRIFFEY JR" variation. Both are serial numbered 4/10. If anybody is interested, please let me know.

If ya dont mind me asking,How much did ya get for the GQ auto?

Don't mind at all. I sold it for $225, which I think was a pretty fair price on it, and I've seen a couple others around that price. I don't know a lot about the 2012 stuff, but I bought a lot of 39 Gypsy Queen autos for $425 or so, and I ended up selling the whole thing to someone else for $500. I sold the other 38 cards first, and then agreed to sell the Griffey for $225. The 2012 Allen and Ginter red auto numbered out of 10 cost me $675. I'm sure I overpaid, but I love the framed Ginter autos, and I'm not sure if I'd ever see another one of them again, so I jumped at it.

Honestly Ginter is a very hot,and collectible set.$675 may seem high, but if ya took a hit on it,if ya decided to sell it,it really wouldnt be much.

can ya really ever OVER PAY on a Griffey ???;)

Good point! I'm not sure when Topps will get it shipped to me, but I'm going to post it here when they do. I need to start a photobucket so I can begin posting some of my other Griffeys.
