Yeah, a Cruz sold last year for $300. Doing the math, that puts the Griffey at just below a nice used car.

Picked up a few interesting 88-89 cards today, most notably a 88-89 Nova Promo Glossy PSA 8. There are two versions of this card, a matte finish and Glossy, PSA grades both. I have both versions in PSA 8, if folks are interested in seeing some scans I can post them later.

I also picked up an 89 Playball Griffey BGS 9. The interesting thing about this card is that it is licensed by MLB, it has their logo on the front and back. Because this card is licensed, Becket will grade it. I've never seen another like it, really interesting card.

I love finding out about new cards to chase, especially his rookie year.

Could you pls post a pic of the 89 Playball with the MLB Logo? I've got three different '89 Action Superstars cards with the MLB Test Logo but have never seen the '89 Playball. Thanks!

Friarg, I'm still waiting on that Allen and Ginter framed mini red auto so we can complete our trade! They HAVE to make that card sooner or later. Griffey signed everything, or so we think...

I also got this one this past week. This is my third one of these (sold the other two over the past few years) but I don't plan on getting rid of this one this time.

My boss told me he used to collect Griffey. He brought his collection by and it none of it was rare or even serial numbered. But I was surprised to see he had this card in a PSA 9 - his only graded card.

I actually have the Ultra Gold above in a 10 as well. I need to scan it.

BenG76, perhaps you can answer this question for me. I've never understood why people get a $1 base card graded. Why have a 1996 Topps Griffey Jr base card sent in for grading? The cost to grade it far exceeds the value of the card. I'm not trying to bash you for having those, and perhaps you didn't have them graded yourself, but I have always wondered that and I felt now may be an appropriate time to ask.

The Gem Mint 10 rookie cards (especially the Upper Deck) are really nice though!

I once saw a 1994 Leaf Griffey Jr base card graded PSA 7. I mean really... So it wasn't even a card that could possibly bring a 10. Even if it was, the cost would still far exceed the value.

PSA set registry. Competition to have the highest graded collection of a set or player.
