So I was feeling nostalgic and bought a couple boxes of 1997 Collector's Choice. I was looking to hit the lottery, and I did. As a Griffey collector, this is the best pull of my life. 1997 Upper Deck Collector's Choice You Crash the Game INSTANT WIN Griffey. For those of you that don't know about this card, you may want to look it up. View attachment 28684

Congrats!! Glad it happened to a Griffey collector. Any guesses you can send me on this weekend's powerball numbers?

I just thought I would post some recent Griffey pickups..

For my set I am putting together..

I always liked these auto's so I am trying to get the trifecta.. (Griffey, Mantle, and the dual)

I think that's a fair price to start the negotiation. Congrats again!

I don't have any 1997s in my collection, but three 1998s (Andruw and Buhner x2). There's just something special about Choice inserts because of how they were distributed. It will never really be that way again.

Can someone post a link to the Griffey Instant Winner auction? I'm not sure if it ended or not.

That looks like the rare quad-folded Ken Griffey Sr. throwback rookie error with a picture of Junior. Note the 4 fold marks and the "Jr." left off the name.

1998 Diffractors

A crowd-sourced project for you all. I've been working with a 1998 Tek collector and between the two of us, we have the following 51 Diffractor patterns. We are looking to see how close we can get to the 90 card set, as a collective entity!

1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 25, 27, 28, 30, 31, 32, 34, 37, 39, 40, 45, 48, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, 55, 56, 61, 63, 64, 65, 66, 68, 69, 70, 72, 77, 80, 84, 86, 88, 89

Let us know what gaps you can fill - and which ones you want to sell to me :D

Sweet! The NO NAME ON FRONT error??? If Thomas has one that sells for 1K or more, this could be too. LOL! I'm a little shocked Beckett would even designate a grade to it. Maybe -2

Great card, only seen one other. I've got the 98 and haven't seen a second one yet.

Thanks Blane. Yeah, I've never seen one before, and I have searched ebay for Griffey on a daily basis for the past 5-6 years. I wonder how many of these still exist. Any chance you would trade or sell the 98? I really only collect Upper Deck products from the 90's, but I have a lot of other nice cards from that era from other brands. You can check out some of what I currently have for sale on ebay, user name dr_mccarthy.

I've seen your stuff and like a lot of it but I think I'd prefer to keep my card. They're a rarity for sure and you hit the jackpot with those boxes. If I decide to let it go though, this will be the first place to know.

I'm not a Griffey collector but have been working on the 2006/2007 Topps 52 Debut Flashbacks Chrome Gold Refractors set for almost two years. This has been one of the white whales of the set, only seen two on ebay since I started, the first one sold raw for a little over $100 in January 2012 and then this one. I think I paid a bit more than I wanted to but wasn't sure when I might see another one. Also looks like there was some funny bidding at the end that may have artificially raised the price.

without further adieu...
