I'm guessing it doesn't go for as much as Magicpapa paid for his.. Economy is worse and the card is in PR..

I would think it will go for $450 or so...

I was way off.. it's already at $860 with 3 days to go..

Hi Folks!

The "bogus" buyback folks are at it again. This appears to be one of the original AUTO cards given out to dealers circa '95. All were signed with black ink. UD then started putting leftovers in packs and sent some out for redemptions for certain items they couldn't fill. The later ones found in packs had new holo numbers but companion cards were similar. As you all know, the "real" buybacks have the holo cards with them and this card states that it is a "buyback". The 1997, 2000 and 2001 buybacks were all signed with blue ink. This is a basic black ink card that someone has penned in a number.

Original Card

Card Back

A final note on buybacks, my last conversations with UD folks allowed that they were having problems with bogus cards in the market. The person was very evasive but stated that they would not be looking up hologram numbers on cards anymore. Bottom line, if the card doesn't have a matching hologram card and the numbers don't fit the series - it ain't real!!!

That one was easy to spot. Card #100 gave it away quickly.
Does anyone know if UD is reporting these to Ebay? When I was reporting fake buybacks to UD in 2003-2004, at first the auction would be ended quickly. After awhile the auctions stopped being removed and I quit reporting them to UD. Could never find out if UD quit reporting them to Ebay or if Ebay quit caring.

Like Magic, I sent UD Fraud department a list of bogus buybacks (which included the buyback number, card listing, seller ID, auction end date, etc...) with NO reply back. My contact at UD couldn't do nothing since he's in a different department.

As for the number the number 13/89, I asked the Fraud department to really look at that card to see if the COA matches what they have in their data base since this card was authenticated by BGS.....NO reply. I would think it wouldn't have been that hard to do since all they had to do was match the serial numbers

Just 2 throw in my 2 cents. Not only are the Balck ink (14 through 88, minis the one Beckett has [doesn't fit into my theory]) in the same series they seem to be in order. Here is a list that I made will all the Black ink ones with the one we know (with COA's) and the order of the rest. Hope this make sence to someone besides myself. Seems strange to me that all the one that are known and have COA fall in with all the others.

Hologram numbers with COA, they match up
Hologram numbers with NO COA, don't match

Could just be me or Upper Deck at its Finest

Does anyone have a scan of the 1993 Select Dufex Promo or more information on these cards?
This 12-card set of blank-backed cards have come out in the marketplace. Some dealers consider these proofs as they are unnumbered and feature some of the players Score included in their insert sets. There is also some dealers who believe up to 72 of these cards exist (All Select Aces, Chase Rookies, Chase Stars and Triple Crown cards). Some dealers also believe these cards were never intended to be issued as promos and should not be priced due to the "path" they took to the hobby.

If you report directly to ebay, they will cancel the auction. I would also provide a link to this thread. If you state it is counterfeit, and provide the s/n of legit ones, they SHOULD end the auction, or they could be found liable as not doing their "due diligence" as with other manufacturers have done.
