Well, since having to sell most of my big Griffey cards off, I have been scared to get back into it. Therefore I have turned mostly to football. I still read this thread constantly though, awesome stuff you guys get!
I did manage to pick up a couple of Griffey cards for dirt cheap, so I couldn't complain:
2003FinestRefractor.jpg

2003 Finest Refractor- Paid $1 plus $2 S/H
2008APieceofHistorBoxScoreMemories.jpg

2008 Upper Deck A Piece of History Box Score Memories #'d477/699- Paid $.99 plus $3 S/H

CAN'T argue with those prices! I just wish my killer Hasselbeck collection was Griffey instead! Oh well!

what happened to that Griffey 1/1 auto?

I GUESS I WON'T BE POSTING THAT ONE!
Seriously the guy called me and said if I'd beat an offer he had received of.... he'd sell me the card. I said I would do it. Simple as that!

I have the other Goudey 1/1 and I wanted the pair.

But even I TOLD THE GUY TO FINISH THE AUCTION. I DIDN'T MIND BIDDING FOR IT AGAINST WHOEVER ELSE WANTED IT.

I don't know if there was an offer or he just created one.
But I do know these sellers "CRACK" much too early. The guy had been around the block, he was hardly a "newby". The card was at $400 plus with 18 hours to go. What is he worried about? Why do so many sellers get scared and end early for some amount when they know most bidding will be in the last hour. I don't get it. They'd probably get more and get more loyal buyers if they just let the auction run. But it keeps happening.

The only connection I had had with him before the agreed sale was an email I sent stating that if he should decide to end early, please email me first as I wanted a chance to bid.
I send the same email to every seller of every auction I plan on bidding on, since I bid at the end.

In my humble opinion, every seller should let every auction run to the end. I have never ended early as a seller ( I don't think? unless it was a friend or something).

To "BAD" I appologize that you did not get a shot at the card or that i could not bid against you. You had made a comment before on the forum and I actually thought it was your offer I was being presented with by the seller.

I hope you are not upset with me

oh no I'm not upset with you. Its all fair game really. I send similar emails saying please don't end the auction early, I'm always considering offering higher. Sometimes I get emails back with a offer from a seller saying they'll revise the listing putting a BIN on the listing for me. This is not just all Griffey cards. Really the seller I'm sort of upset about. Not you brinn1. Though I'm not really all that mad. I just used more smilies than usual. I still want a shot on a 1/1 on card auto of his. My post about the card you're talking about I was trying to be cute in my own little weird way. lol I also know you have the other 1/1 of it and it makes me drool and dream about your collection.

Bad, I want to really thank you for that reply. I felt really bad that you didn't get a shot at it. I hope you get your 1/1 on card Griffey auto and will do what I can from my end to help you get it. Please feel free to email me anytime if you find a 1/1 on-card auto which you plan on going after.
Thanks again for not being upset with me.

hey even if you did get the seller to end the listing for your offer I still wouldn't have given you grief. You're true Griffey collector and if you offer high enough for a seller to end the listing early then it was meant to be for you. I would give you the utmost congrats on snagging a card like that. (I noticed on completed auctions that the seller put a $500 BIN on it!!? I would have hit BIN before I saw the 2nd zero. lol If anyone snagged it on here congrats!! We're a family (to me) of Griffey collectors and I won't be the one to hate on anyone's pick ups or outbids. If you want it that bad then the best will get it. :D

I just wanted to add that I am home now! I've been in the States for just over 48 hours now. I'm still adjusting to the time differences but I am loving every minute of it. I hope everyone is doing well.

Looking thru Griffey Auto's I came across a new 2008 Sweet Spot Barrel.. It's numbered to 230 so I think there are plenty of these to go around.. He's in a Chicago White Sox Uni!!

I will be passing on this one, so good luck to whoever wins it..
