Group Buy from Baseball Card Exchange - Round 3?

Would like to assess interest in doing another group buy from BBCE. This would be the 3rd buy on FCB and we've had a lot of fun with the first two. If you are interested, just reply to the thread with a yes or something along those lines and if we can get to 20 people or so, we'll proceed forward.

All products will come from Basbeball Card Exchange, in IL. All products will ship to me and then I will ship to you. All rack packs and cellos will be randomized, so that each pack is predetermined as to who gets it before they come out of the box. All boxes that could be searched (i.e., 1989 UD, Leaf Certified, etc.) will be shuffled before distributed to each person. All of this will take place live on camera and will be recorded (right from the breaking of the seal when I receive from BBCE).

The buy would close September 15 at 8:00pm EST, or when it sells out; whichever comes FIRST. Anything not sold out by then will be cancelled from the order. BBCE will not break up sealed product, so if we don't sell a full box out, we can't get it.

Shipping, supplies and small fee to me for time (this took me over 40 hours of my time on rounds 1&2), based on the number of packs. Cellos = 2 packs, Rack packs = 3 packs:

First Class Mail Bubble Mailer - $8.00 (up to 6 packs)
Small Flat Rate - $11.50 (up to 12 packs)
Medium Flat Rate - $17.50 (up to 72 packs)


The boxes are yet to be determined, but will focus on 1980s product (1982-85 Donruss, Topps, Fleer, etc.) with a bit sprinkled in from more modern times (couple 90's boxes, or early 2000's) and few opportunities for packs from the 70s for those that are interested. FYI for those that participated before but have not paid much attention to the cost of wax on BBCE, it is UP across the board, so it will cost you a bit more to get the same quantity of stuff you may have ordered before (search Group BBCE buy to see what you previously bought). Expect to pay about 20% more this time. BUT there are also opportunities that weren't there before, like a full 82 Topps Cello box at $9 per cello (for comparison that was the price of a rack pack from an already opened box last time).

Great! I can also tell I was not clear enough on this,as I've received some PMs about how it works. Basically, I will post some products with a per pack price, like 1982 Donruss box, with 36 packs and each pack will be $1.88. You then tell me how many you want from the box. Once we reach 36, that box is sold out. You can pick and choose what products you want from what I list, taking as many packs from the box as you'd like.

Once you are done, tally up the number of packs and see what your shipping charge is. Add up your pack total cost and add the sipping to it and that is your contribution towards the buy. Once I get the boxes from BBCE, I divvy them all up and ship you your packs. I DO NOT open them for you!!! I'm just organizing the buy. Steve will give us a 10% discount off the wax we buy, so that is awesome for us all.

An error was also pointed out to me regarding the 1982 Topps Cello packs - I had posted "fleer rack pack" after the cello pack description. These are indeed 1982 Topps Cellos and NOT fleer rack packs.

I was planning on placing an order for myself with BBCE around Christmas as my present to myself lol. Was thinking of busting a bunch of 97 and 98 Collector's Choice Series 2 in the wild chance of pulling a Bonds Crash the Game Instant Winner.

Guys, just a little insight into the 80's unopened pack market. Prices are increasing pretty dramatically on this stuff and if you keep it unopened it's a nice little investment, especially cellos and racks. Check Ebay and auction house prices over the past 2 years. Steve does not search his packs and you will often hit packs with stars showing. For those not familiar, he also authenticates all unopened packs for PSA. This is a great deal Bill is running for us.
