Being a Cardinals fan, here's my take.

Scott Rolen (yes) Best 3B ever in my opinion.

Joey Votto (no) Too early to say.

Chris Carpenter (no) Too injury riddled career.

Yadier Molina (yes) May be the greatest catcher ever to play the game.

Jim Edmonds (yes) He'll get in. His reputation precedes him. Too many highlight reel catches to keep out. He's in the voters memories in a positive way, and that'll get him in. And I hate Edmonds personally.

If we're talking Cooperstown..

Scott Rolen-No

Joey Votto-Too early, but I don't think he'll make it
Chris Carpenter-Maybe, but my guess would be no
Yadier Molina-Best chance, but still don't think he's got a huge probability to make the HOF
Jim Edmonds-Longshot

The problem with Molina is simply that putting up pedestrian numbers, while being a fantastic defensive catcher doesn't get the hype around you that it used to get. I think by the time his career is done when you look at his offensive output it will not be such that it would get into the HOF. His intangibles, defense, etc will have to get him in if it ever comes to it

His offensive output at the end of his career will be greater than Ozzie Smith's.

His defensive output at the end of his career will be greater than any other MLB catcher EVER......it already is in my opinion.

He has two World Series wins already.

He was just one of the finalists for the MVP.

He's going to be a Gold Glove winner of ridiculous numbers.

Yadi will get in. I would bet a million dollars on it if I had it, I'm that confident.

There's no team I despise more than STL, but if Molina keeps doing what he's doing, he's in. He has been, and probably will continue to be, the defensive standard in the game.

And he's been that way since he came into the league, defensively, and he's really just now getting the proper recognition.

Gotta think that he'll finish his career a Cardinal too. Which I think does make a difference to voters.

Bengie Molina '00-'08 Batting & Fielding Stats (9 years): BA .278, HR 118, RBI 585, OPS .730, Fld% .994, CS% .31
Yadier Molina '04-'12 Batting & Fielding Stats (9 years): BA .279, HR 77, RBI 466, OPS .728 Fld% .993, CS% .45

Good thing is, I may have just saved you a million dollars.

Oh for sure he will. And I think it does.

I think he's more beloved to Cardinals fans than Albert Pujols ever was. I've never heard a Cardinals fan say one negative word toward Yadi. Which I can't say for Albert. Albert was a sourpuss a lot of the time.

I would take that bet if I could. He's got 77 HRs, and just over 1,000 hits. Pedestrian career batting average of .279 and a pedestrian OPS of .730, certainly not HOF numbers there at all.

Still early, but he's 30 years old already. For a catcher who knows what will happen, how his knees will hold up. Right now he's a 4 time all-star and last year I think has been the only year he was an MVP finalist, again we're talking finalist not even winner. He's been clutch in the postseason and he's got 5 gold gloves defensively he's great.

He'd have to have an awesome and consistent bunch of years at the end of his career to by HOF worthy. He is nowhere near a lock right now

Per Molina...really? And why oh why is Ozzie Smith in the HOF? He didn't exactly light it up as a powerhouse at the plate. Shortstop and Catcher are two of the positions where defense is the best attribute one can have. Then you do get hybrids like Piazza but still, Molina is a damn good player. I think if he keeps up his current level, he gets in. Everyone else on the list to me, seems like they'd fall short...

The difference is that Ozzie is widely regarded as clearly the best defensive shortstop of all time, and possibly the best defensive player ever in baseball. If by the time he retires Molina is widely regarded as the best defensive catcher ever, he could get in with low batting stats. If he is merely seen as "one of" the best ever defensively, or "maybe" the best ever, he is going to need to keep putting up the numbers he has had in the last 2 seasons and not regress to what he did before that if he wants to make it into the Hall.

from 2000-2005 Edmonds was arguably the best all around player in the game. His offensive numbers were elite and his defense was top shelf.

In all time cf stats he ranks 4th in hr, 5th in slg, 6th in ops, 7th in ops+ and rbis, 11th in runs, and 12th in obp.

Only other ofs to play 75% of their games in cf and to amass hr 350, runs 1250, and rbis 1190..

Mays, Griffey, DiMaggio..

There is a more valid argument to make than homerism.. Which I'm not I'm a Red Sox fan.. I'd rather Edmonds be in the hall than rice. That said of he doesn't make it I won't become violent..

The problem is that Edmonds doesn't pass the superstar/seems like a HOFer test and has low career hit numbers with a batting average that doesn't really jump out at you. I think Rice was a poor selection for the Hall but when he was in his prime he was seen as one of the best players in the game - he won 1 MVP award and finished in the top 5 in voting 6 times. Edmonds only finished in the top ten in voting 2 times, never higher than 4th - he was not viewed as one of the best players in the game at that time. Somebody like that needs excellent career numbers like Blyleven to make it in. I just don't see it happening. He was a really good player, though.

Being a Cardinals fan, here's my take.

Scott Rolen (yes) Best 3B ever in my opinion.

Do you mean best Cardinals third baseman ever? Or are you seriously saying Scott Rolen is better than Mike Schmidt?

hemorrhoids?

George Brett is already in Cooperstown.
