Hanley Top 5 rightnow?

Maybe top 10.

Not really arguing, but who are you putting in front of him? Let's say just hitters.

At age 30 or younger,he might make the list. But overall i have these guys higher.I'm on the border with 2 i didn't list.

Pujols
A-Rod
D.Wright
G.Sizemore
Miguel Cabrera
Mark Teixeira [Yes,I said It]!

The fact that Hanley is cheap right now doesnt mean anything.

Boston could easily renegotiate his contract for a massive extension down the road if they saw fit. If they have $180m for Tex, I bet they could find some coin for Hanley

If not, theyd have him for another 5 years and they could let him go, or trade him during the final year of the contract--or something similar, im not exactly sure of all the contract details he has.

Boston has close to NY money to use, and I would not be surprised at all.

Where do you think Hanley would rather play anyway? Boston, where he has a damn good chance of winning rings, or, Florida, where 18 people see your game

With the all around game Hanley brings to the game, hes ahead of most players. Remember Hanley is only 24 and probably not even in his prime yet. Who knows what Hanleys ceiling really is right now. Add that to the fact hes putting up the numbers he is as a shortstop and he makes for a major force thats not been seen at the position since Arod. Theres a lot of very good hitters in the major leagues but I think Hanley is a guy you build your team around.

Good list. I agree on Pujols and Arod (those are no brainers). Wright I can see as well. I think he's right around the same level as Sizemore, but as far as starting a team I'm taking Hanley over Miggy and Teix.

I really think last years numbers were down because he was trying too hard to hit for power (Increased to 33 HR). I think this affected his batting average (still over .300) and opportunities to steal (still had 30+). Between the new contract and losing Cabrera he may have had some extra weight on his shoulders to produce, and it took away from his game a little.
