So who is buying at Mamabear's price?

Blowout is pre-selling them for $1849. Auctions are ending for Mamabear at around $1050.

Only thing is you won't get them until Feb 7 - Feb 11.

Is it possible that she's short selling?

It seems like there would be an issue with timing to try and short-sell cases. However, that hurdle aside, you could have made a good chunk of change doing this with TC and BC I'd think.

Sell cases at pre-sell/right at release, buy cases to fill orders some number of weeks later at a much lower price.

Cost is cost on these for the distributors they are going to. Plus, do you really think that Sterling is going to drop to $125 a box?

I'm not saying that she's short selling EFFECTIVELY... just that she's short selling.

That's my point. while I don't think Bowman Sterling is a good product to that with, based on the track record of Bow/Topps Chrome, perhaps she does...

It could have worked with TC and BC...but the margin was low, risk was high and profits would have been small. I have no doubt that some variation of this is trying to be done here. Who will make up the difference in teh end when they lose their bet is the point. Ebay? The customers? The distributors they bought from and can no longer pay?

The variable you're not thinking of is Dist. cost. Sure, distributors sell at a loss and do all the time. Do you really think that 4-5 weeks after release they are going to be looking to take AT LEAST a 35% hit and sell at $125 a box. Even when TC was at its lowest it was about 25% below cost....and probably would have dropped more had the distributors been willing to take the bigger loss.

I bought 10BDP from them with expectations that I will get it a week after release and well, I got it!

I'm satisfied (not with the contents but with the service!)

Chris,
I picked up the 2 cases of Bowman Chrome Baseball I was going to group break from her. The description said they would be delivered the week of Dec. 13th and guaranteed in time for x-mas. They were shipped the week after christmas and I got them on the 30th I believe.

Because I couldn't sell out the break and no one really seemed interested in trading/buying boxes and I would have lost money to turn around and relist them on ebay, I contacted her and ask for a refund, including the cost of return shipping to her b/c I didn't receive them in time for x-mas and her listing "guaranteed" that. She responded quickly and said no problem and apologized for not getting them out in time as promised. As you probably know, I didn't return them and instead busted them open. Now, many of the boxes seemed to be filled with excess air and were quite puffy, but I still hit a boatload of nice color and some decent cards. So, personally, I wouldn't hesitate to deal with her again and if I had $1K lying around, I'd be all over a case of Sterling from her (mama_bear's name is Jen).

Best of luck with whatever you buy. I know she just listed a bunch more 2010 Bowman Sterling Baseball Cases. I don't see her running anywhere. And while she has a few negs, I think she delivers the goods. There are always some disgruntled people on the bay who don't hesitate to fling that negative feedback all over the place.

I was about to make a thread today as well as it just doesn't make sense.

This isnt a 'fell off the truck' type of thing as this has been going on for 3+ months and they continue to offer ridiculous presells. I'm confident whatever it is that is going on is illegal as there is just no way to justify any of this. If they've done 400k in sales in the past few months, the inventory probably cost them $600k. Every single product is sold well below cost, and they have 8 box cases of Bowman Sterling for $1050 dlvd. I keep waiting to say I told you so when someone doesn't get their order but so far it hasn't happened.

Originally they claimed they were owed money by a dealer friend and they were selling them to get the money they were owed. But at this point thats hard to believe. I'd love to buy an 8 box case of sterling for $1050, but I just can't help but think either they wont come through or its something highly illegal. I don't know what, maybe order a ton of cases on credit cards, sell everything immediately and take the cash and run before paying the CC? I don't know, but it can't be legit.

I can't imagine companies like blowout, atlanta and others are very happy. Blowout has 8 boxes cases of Sterling for $1800+ and mama_bear on ebay has them for $1050 dlvd. Talk about crushing the competition...

I got it!

Mamabear is a search and re-seal operation.

Bill said his case seemed "puffy" and was very mediocre. BMP1(?) just bought what he thought was a resealed box, that seemed "puffy".

They search, take out the best hits. Sell them on another account to get cash flow. Fill the cases back up and that accounts for the delay.

I totally just made that up, but, it is so stupid that it might just be true.

I have 2 very possible theories; Either chemical experimentation or the New Madrid Fault Line. I'm leaning towards the 2nd one though I wouldn't be surprised with either.

ha ha - i was totally joking about he puffy thing. LOL. BMP1 didn't buy from mama_bear (she hasn't had 2010 Bowman Jumbo boxes for sale). My cases were drop shipped from AZ and Jen is in FL, so she's not pack searching. I know you said you were joking but "it's so stupid it just might be true." It's not.

I have a few questions.

Need any more info from me other than what I provided earlier?
