I think that dollas is dollas. If I put down the money to sign an exclusive, I want that money protected any way I can. I want my purchase to pay off as much as possible.

I hear ya. But it's a friggin shame that you have to pay a guy $50 +/- for him to sign your baseball, and then because of a contract he picks what he writes, where he writes it, etc. At what point is is just a transaction and there's no nostalgia? I mean where's the intrinsic value? If it's to flip to some sucker, that's one thing. But to actually wait to meet this player and get him to sign your baseball, then have to pony up for those conditions? It's all lost on me man, I totally don't get it at all. It'd absolutely ruin any sense of respect I have for the dude if I met him, had a chat after the game and asked him to sign a ball only to have him specify what/where he'd sign. Call me a grinch, but no thanks. Does anyone seriously look back fondly and say "Yep, I paid EXTRA to say hello to this guy and have him avoid eye contact and sign the sweet spot?" Is that what people are seriously collecting?

90%+ of players won't sign a deal preventing them from signing sweetspot for fans. You'd have to offer a substantial premium to get that included in there on in demand guys. At a certain point, it becomes cost prohibitive to get that guarantee put in your deal.

Also, have to structure out how the player will be punished if he breaks it. Void the deal? Player doesn't care too much, plenty of opportunities for him to sell stuff, so the only loser is the dealer. Make the player pay a fine? Hah, good luck. It simply doesn't work out as easily as it sounds.
