I was just going to post this..
Not a huge fan of any of them at this point. I think some are very good but not HOF worthy.
At this point, electing anyone before 1950 seems like such an afterthought it should have been done by now if at all.

Maine of course......
Very comparable to Steinbrenner, who I think will be elected some day........

Sam Breadon- "In all, the Cardinals won nine pennants and six World Series from the time Breadon took over in 1920 until he sold the club in November of 1947. The Cardinals’ record during that time was 2,470-1,830 (.574)."

Cannot really comment on the 1800 guys....

No way any of the 1900's players deserve to be elected........

I realize it's a money issue, but the HOF doesn't and shouldn't elect people in every year. It waters down the Hall. My opinion.

I think the "innovators" of the game deserve HOF recognition. This great game of ours had to be created and molded, so the pre 1900 guys paved the way, despite not having traditional "HOF" numbers. (Think how complicated it would be to create a new sport. Rules, scoring, positions, etc. 100 years laters, the originators of the game probably wouldn't be "leaders" at anything.)

Henry Ford was an innovator in the automobile industry, but put a Model T next to today's Lamborghini. Just because the Lambo is a much better modern car, does that mean Ford's contributions weren't important?

Alexander Graham Bell's first phone is NOTHING compared to today's I-Phone, but isn't he still important to the communications field?

Thanks for the update. I had forgotten about this ballot.

I'm glad no one was elected, though. If players like Marty Marion and Wes Ferrell weren't good enough to be elected 50+ years ago, what makes them more worthy now?

An exception of course is ***** League players, whose stats and stories were lost to history and may not have come to light until recently.

...yeah the announcement certainly flew under the radar. I agree with regards to the players. Was surprised that Breadon or Adams was not elected. Will be interesting to see what happens the next time Steinbrenner appears on one of these ballots.
