The article referenced Fielder's actions after the home run derby. This picture is from a game in September (in the link), not the Derby. You can't say from that picture he was "showing up" Pujols, as this picture was evidently taken last year.

Anyone with a weak stomache.....ugh

Reading through the thread, I wasn't going to formulat an opinion or say anything, but after seeing that picture.
That is not pulling off the jersey to respect a hard day's work. That is clearly disrespect, showing up Pujols.
I never had any opinion of fielder before this thread, but I will say I do now. IMHO that is worse than anything Manny has ever done.

It is clear, at least to me, that this has been going on before the HR derby? He is definetely "ripping" it off in defiance of something, so I am sure the HR derby wasn't the first mention of it....that is clearly a blatant effort to make a statement. "untucking" a jersey in itself would mean nothing to me, but here it is clear he is basically telling someone to f'off, even if it is just 'BRAGGING about a victory". Just very poor class imho.

I would think and hope that the manager would stand up and say something to his troops, unless they want to be looked at as "the tough boys"...and maybe that is part of their game plan. Maybe baseball will end up like hockey...could be a whole new game....

Some random thoughts:

Anybody remember Danny Jackson?

Musial could kick Pujols tuckus, and Stan's like 113 years old or something.

I love it, it's like a comic book, Albert the Shining Knight in White vs. the Dark Prince Fielder and his punky band of villians from Milwaukee. I think the rivalry is great for the game, and I love how Fielder plays the game, big dude, really fast for his size, awesome. He needs to start trying to steal more bases and kill some infielders.

Ty Cobb's corpse could kick all of their tushes.

Yea, who am i kidding...it was just the other day that I said "I Loved EVERYTHING Manny brings to the game, good and bad...so I am not sure why this struck a bad note with me. I love the controversy and all the game brings....I will have to rationalize my thinking after a good nights sleep :D

I am curious though, how the Brewer's manager views all of this...I would think there would be some maturity level in the clubhouse?

Not to mess up the topic but at the team hotel for all of the All Stars Pujols didn't show very good sportsmanship or respect to his fellow team members. He was in the hotel, had several police escorts out of the hotel into a super stretch limo, he got in the limo, 4 or 5 players walked out to get in and he told them they could get a cab and took off. Pujols may be getting plunked by those guys teams.

heresay and I don't think you know the details...maybe he was sick, or maybe he was stressed, or maybe he was picking up wife...who knows...sounds like a stretch here.

Seriously if this is an issue, then I take offense to Pujols pumping his chest and pointing up to God every time he gets a hit.
If you think OUR God gives two craps about Pujols getting a double in some game in July you're an idiot and disrespecting my God and religion.

Cameron started the trend to pay respect to his Dad who helped him get to where he is today. He's a leader in the clubhouse and the other players followed his lead. End of story. It's just a celebration of a successful hard day's work. Period.

It's amazing how a little winning makes everyone hate you. Nobody cared what the Brewers were doing when they were losing, but now that they've had some success, it's all a bunch of sour grapes. Get over yourself.

If anyone thinks this is a tribute to Mike Cameron, and not just an act of defiance, i think there is a little bit of denial going on.

That picture is taken way out of context and is just a blip second of the whole action. It was taken way before any of this BS about "defiance" came up. Who the hell thinks celebrating by untucking your shirt is defiant? And to who? Are you their father and they need to show you reverence. What about players that take off their hats or throw their helmets down after striking out?

Anyone that can see that picture and think it's "defiant" has no idea what that word means.

As an example of what I'm saying, look into the ACTUAL few seconds that this photo was taken:

Muhammad%20Ali.jpg

A photo may say 1000 words, but it only captures 1/1000th of a second.

You really see that (a defiant act)? How can you be sure? You can read his meaning so well that you can tell he is telling someone to F' off??? How do you know he wasn't just celebrating a HR (I know K.Gibson for example would violently swing his arms as if he were beating his imaginary friend, & if a still frame were taken of him in that moment it would look like he was pissed; yet in all actuality he is just celebrating an accomplishment or triumph for he & his team)....

Anyone can read into something & pull out whatever meaning they want to take from it (100 people could look at a picture & when asked what they saw in term's of "what is going on, taking place in this picture?", most would describe something totally different from the other...unless of course the individual's first overheard someone else describe it, & then thier description's would take on a life that very much resembled the first description that they overheard)- this is what's going on here as this picture was posted in this thread & although it was taken long before this issue was ever an issue, people within the thread are trying to justify all the ways that this picture must relate to the topic of this thread (it's only link is it is Feidler untucking his shirt, which I'm sure he does every game....but people seem to now think this picture was proof of his defiance towards Pujols'). ::facepalm::

So please tell me, what exactly do you think Fielder is saying in that picture?

Do you really think he is saying "Here is a tribute to Mike Cameron's dad for a hard days work?"

I already acknowledged that he either doing it out of defiance OR an act of gloating victory, either which I consider poor sportsmanship.

Please read ALL my previous messages. I said either defiance or gloat, but NOT tribute to mikes dad. Probably gloat more than likely...
