I've always wanted to set up at that show cause the Astros selection is crap and I always thought I could clean house. Too bad all my high end stuff is now of FORMER Astros. ::facepalm::

Lol. How you been Trevor? It's been a long time. You still have those sweet Pences I sold you?

Ya I haven't really been around much the last couple years. I can't remember the last time I bought any cards. I sold some stuff when I moved to Colorado but prices sucked so I have been sitting on most everything. Working 70-80 hours a week and trying to find time to play in the mountains makes collecting pretty tough. I moved back to Texas, quit my job and I'm going back to school to get a degree that isn't worthless so hopefully I'll have time to get out my cards and see what has been sitting in boxes the last couple years.

Yeah I disappeared a few years myself (personal issues, may have told you via pm back then, I can't remember) and I have just gotten back into it the last 5 months or so. I sure regreted selling my pence collection. Well until they traded him anyway.

You did and I actually am going through something similar. My X decided her career was the most important thing to her and I am not going to be second fiddle so we split a few months ago.

Yep, the January show seems to be the best of the year, been that way for a long time IMO. The autograph prices have really gotten insane, but Emmitt's price is beyond belief. $250 for maybe 10-15 seconds of face time & the auto? Not counting the skyrocketing add-on prices if you want something more than a flat signed.

The $173 for Nolan Ryan's autograph is insane. The face time and photo would be awesome, that's just a lot of money. He's signed thousands of things through the years (hundreds of thousands?) so they aren't too expensive.

I went on Saturday as well. As a transplanted NYer I was used to big shows and this didn't disappoint.
A LT more football and basketball then baseball but, I saw some good stuff;
3 Ruth auto balls
Machado superfractor
Three heyward superfractor auto.....for 12k!

There were a few guys with a ton of nice prospect stuff. I sent in an 11 card bgs submission and bought a moux xfractor redemption for 12 and got a steal on a verlander 05 bowmans best red auto /199 for $50.

I saw some nice cards, but my budget was shot before I walked in the door. As I was waiting in line outside to get in, I checked my email and a guy that had the N43 Autograph of Clayton Kershaw emailed me back and agreed to sell it to me, so there went $90 of my $150 before I even got in the door.

All I bought was 40 magnetic one-touch holders (want to move my $20+ raw cards into them), a 2000 SPx Signatures ManRam (for my set), and a buddy (from the Beckett board) that I met there gave me a sweet Bowman Pujols RC as a Christmas gift. I took the rest of my money home and paid for the Kershaw N43 Auto. Also spent a few bucks on a gift for another buddy.

It was fun though, and there was a massive line at the door to get in when it opened. I saw a lot of money exchanging hands, so hopefully the dealers did well

Any of you guys that were there saturday mid-day probably saw me, I think I might've been the only guy pushing a stroller, but hey my wife took the newborn and the 1 year old, so I was happy to just be showing my 3 year old the ropes! He got his first pack of baseball cards, and even whataburger french fries and gravy had to wait, when we got home and he got to open it!

If any of you happen to be a dealer there who gave a 1987 topps pack to a 3 year old in a stroller, I can't thank you enough, my son has already rearranged his pack of cards 3 different ways in an album I gave him. He just kept saying about how much fun he had!

Also, thanks to the dealer whom talked me into buying my first 2011 Bowman Sterling pack, pulled a dual auto Aaron Crow/Danny Duffy #/10 and a Pindea RC, and Ackley bat!

Hey, also picked up a '72 Ryan for my PSA Registry Set!

I really wanted to make go but wasn't able to make it. I'll probably go to the one this summer, although I keep seeing in this thread that the winter show is better. Oh well.

Just got back from the show. I had a great time. Seen a lot of nice cards. Wish I had more money at the time as I would of came back with more. I only picked up 3 cards. Dylan Bundy bgs9.5 chrome auto, Archie Bradley chrome auto, and a springer ref auto. Busted packs of 04 SP top prospects and elite. Struck out. Busted 3 packs of bowman draft and pulled a jungamann gold ref ( non auto). Bought 2 boxes of 2011 bowman draft. My 6 year old picked the boxes out. First box was pretty sweet as it had 3 autos in it! Joe panik base auto, Michael fulmer base auto and my first gold ref auto of zach collins ( USA auto) I also seen a purple springer auto that was a bgs 9.5 that I'm gonna try to get next week.

I also met zupster. Real nice guy and I enjoyed talking with him about cards an prospects. I'll be going this summer even though I heard it's not as good. So I'll ne looking for zupster then.

I went on Saturday as well. Got Frank Thomas's sig at about 11:45 after getting there at 11:00. Then we browsed the show until getting in line for Barry Sanders at 1:40 or so. No places to sit unlike the summer show at the center. I have been to 4 straight TriStars now here in Houston and this was the busiest. Unfortunately, I settled for a case of chrome because I personally didn't see many cards I liked and the ones I did were overpriced. I even thought I saw less singles than the 2011 summer show. The memorabilia tables grew by 2 fold or more. Interesting, but could have been better for me.

Totally missed this thread... was going to ask if people attending could keep an eye out for Darin Erstad game worn items.
