At the end of the day, perception is reality. Sad.

I dont think this is sad. We are talking about baseball cards here. Everything about them is socially constructed, so why should the provenance of a square of polyester be any different? Make of it what you want and buy accordingly. People who obsess over that stuff might consider a new hobby (though, as pointed out in another recent thread, perhaps XXXXXing is itself one of the focal points of the hobby).

Yea, I guess I shouldn't of said sad after because that doesn't apply to me.

I believe all the game used cards I have of Belle are exactly that. I have to believe that lol. I'm happy though with that understanding. Can't prove otherwise and again, perception is reality.

As you said, otherwise I might as well keep moving and find a new hobby, like collecting coins.

Wow some people here have their ******* all caught up in their crack. :-|

The op asked a legit question about these cards
For a product which cost $150 - I would have expected a better looking product
Especially from a company that claims to be innovative and caring towards what "collectors" (read flippers) want
After looking these cards over - they're jut plain ugly, poorly designed, replica patches which to me don't add any extra value to them & quality control needs to be worked on (see my earlier post)
IMO this product, another draft/ prospect is not warranted

off topic a little - when has Leaf put out a product (sports - baseball, football etc.) geared towards younger collectors to buy? I mean how many 10 - 15 year olds walk into a store and can afford spending $75 - $200 to buy a Leaf product ??

Good question. Not sure that's their mission but I can't speak for them. Would be a good answer to hear from BG.

This is new in baseball? News to me. I have seen similar wording before. Pretty sure Leaf isn't 'bringing this to baseball'.

What baseball cards have ever had Event Worn relics in them other than All Star Game Relics?

Those don't bother me because they are from the All Star Game, and the jerseys are never worn in the game, so thats the only way to get ASG relics.

Topps has been using language like that for YEARS now. Who knows what anything is that doesn't specifically say "game used". What the hell is a "relic", a term Topps has been using for awhile now.

I was going to ask in my last post how long before the 2 wrongs make a right crew would show up. Looks like I am late.

While I'm not interested in the players, it adds a little bit of value to the card, and it's probably a legal loophole so Leaf can have something on the card that associates the player with the team that drafted him without printing a team logo. They don't seem like much now, but if one of the players becomes very popular it will be an interesting early career oddball to have. Similarly, I was excited to see 2013 Ultimate Collection football patches pop up on Ebay until I realized they were all player worn. I understand why they do it for the rookies, but for players like Joe Namath who have been retired for decades it seems dumb.

Funny, I would say a buxton /20 selling for 175.00 indicates they do like them

I guess well see how the boxes do in the secondary market.. I'd bet dollars to donuts they are 50% over cost within a week! (While competing products are trading at or below cost)..

I don't see anyone doing that. There was a claim made that this is new to baseball. I am simply refuting that. If you read the thread, you will see where I state how much I hate the use of "event-used or player-worn" material on cards. Or just ignore it.

So show me some event used/worn baseball cards from either Topps, Panini, or Upper Deck.

There are a lot of people who collect to collect their favorite players/teams. This set--and Leaf in general--is so great because it is a fun way to add new players to your collection without having to drop Bowman/Topps rookie card cash. People seem to gamble/invest with those cards more then collect, and it drives up the prices. Not everyone is looking at the future bottom line, but the value they are getting in the present. And these scratch that itch nicely.

And yea, these patch cards are beautiful. 10 times better then anything Topps is putting out.

Agreed on the Glass cards. I really liked the ones from that UD basketball set a few years ago, would like to collect MLB cards in the same style.

States "Event-Worn" on the back of the card. Give me a second and I'll add a scan of the back. added
