Other things that have been rumored to work:
Rubbing your finger over the card. (I don't do that... it's kinda gross).
Using pantyhose (for reasons that are obvious, I don't use them)
Using some sort of eraser. IDK which kind it was (I don't because I want the gloss on the card.)

I did my own little experiment in the fall with a couple of 2009 Topps Chrome cards (posted somewhere in an old thread here), and by far the best method is baby powder. I found that rubbing the surface of the card without baby powder does little or nothing to help to autograph.

Got back today, giving me a perfect Spring Training return rate (1 for 1)! Total wait 45 days.
