How Topps can ruin the value of a nice Tribute card

This card was pulled out of a box of Tribute today. My friend was excited as he slid the top card off and it revealed this

Carefully he opened it up and saw this

Thinking he pulled a Pujols dual jersey/ patch he was estatic until I pointed out that Molina was the player over the patch not Pujols

Looking dumbfounded he stared at this card and asked why ? why would they put a beautiful patch for Molina put give Pujols 3 plain white jerseys?? Especially a card numbered to 25

Now before you flame me - I still think this is a nice card and worthy of being my pc, but I had no clue as to Topps thinking for this card. Maybe a home/ away and 1 patch anything besides those boring white jerseys which to me just do justice for this card.

I also noticed other than the game used memorabilia under the jersey/patch pieces there is no mention as to these memorabilia pieces either game or event used (at least they don't call 'em relics like they do on the other cards.

They didnt feel like "wasting" really nice Yadi patches in their bounty of low end/ retro products. And he isnt a hobby star (not in Sterling) so the best place for colorful patches is in this product and TTT, especially pared with Pujols.

Nothing a Cardinals replica jersey couldn't fix. Of course, with the intelligence of some of the fake patch buyers out there, a simple marker might even work.

Mike, I told you it's not my card - putting on ebay tonight on consignment

If you don't believe me so be it...but you know my feelings about this product - I still won't buy it..unless it drops to $10/15 a pack. There's too many relic cards that won't return more than $15 in it.

I just like how Topps uses the same player images across sets. It's not confusing this way - if you've identified Yadier Molina in one set, you know who he'll be in every other set, too. :?
