I would swap Boise St and Georgia Tech. Put the undefeated teams against each other.

A 16 team playoff would be HORRIBLE for college football.

Please give me 3 reasons why. It would take 4 weeks to complete.

I don't see why. Every other division of college football does it. Not only is it not horrible, but it's much more interesting. Also, there is no layoff between the regular season and playoffs.

16 team playoff would make College football my favorite sport, even over baseball! It would be unbelievable! Bowl games mean nothing. 16 team playoff would be so awesome, and even more so if favored team played at home! As it is now, Florida and California teams have HUGE advantage playing home games in Bowls! Would love to see USC up in the snow!

imo that would be a horrible idea. there's already enough problems with the current system about more than one team finishing undefeated and doing that would guarantee another team with no losses which in turn goes to the controversy of who the real champ is.

yes you can argue that with this year there are 5 teams undefeated but if they play a 1 loss team, that team has a chance to win and eliminate some of those possibilities. putting 2 undefeated teams against each other guarantees at least 2 will finish perfect

Yea.... what are they doing between now and the Bowl games? Nothing. They could play the games and have the Bowl games host the final 2 rounds. Fiesta and Sugar as Semis... Rose as National Championship game.

What does Boise and Cincy have to "gain" by beating teams with couple losses?
let Iowa and GTU play each other and have the undefeated battle it out

Basically winner of TCU-Boise has shot for 2nd place unless Cincy beats Florida
Yes, 2nd = so what

Some playoff! Ask Cincy and Boise how that worked out. Boise beat the Pac 10 champ that is going to win the Rose Bowl. Better than anyone Texa beat this season.

IMO the whole "ruin the regular season thing" is beyond B.S. , especially if you use a format that includes the conference winners of the smaller conferences and only like 4 at-large teams (someone posted that one in another thread) Tradition wise - you can still use the current bowls (and now people may actually show up or care about some of them) and let the other teams go to theirs.

If that was the case everything would have been nearly the same, only instead of just winning a conference they'd actually be playing for something more. Pitt still would have faced Cincy - for not just the Big East but a spot to actually win a championship. Same with Oregon/Oregon st. Texas/Nebraska....the only exception would be Florida/Bama since you could argue the loser would still be an at-large team, but with the seasons they had they deserve that.

You'd still have to play to win the conference because that's the only way to be sure of a spot....as they can use their silly BCS formula to come up with the 4 at-large teams and lord knows you wouldn't want to leave that to chance.
If anything this could make the regular season better....in this system USC can schedule a mega money game against a Florida and not have any hesitation, because there main goal is taking care of business in the Pac-10......sorry I'll shut up now since this is probably just beating a dead horse, just i love college b-ball and march madness so much, yet most times can care less about these bowls and it's insulting that they use the system they have now and claim it's a "national championship game", when it's the same as it's always been - decided by voters.

The problem with the BCS is, if you lose in week 1, your season is over. You have NO chance of winning a National title at that point. Why play the rest of the season? That is the best part about sports, you can learn from a loss or a mistake. Not in college football! You lose, you are done. No fairness in it. The best team almost never is the National champ in current format. Some of those great USC teams would have beat anyone in the title game, but since they had one loss in the middle of the year, they don't even get a chance? BCS is garbage! And these stupid bowls they have now could still stay in place if it went to playoffs. They would be just as meaningless as they are now.

No actually it is better to lose week 1 than week 11.

Florida lost last year in the regular season. Florida also was the National Champion.

Sure it's "better", but Oregon lost 1st week this season and season over. Sure they won the Pac 10, and will probably win the Rose Bowl, but who really cares? All they can say is were # 5?! Put a playoff in and they would still have something to play for.

Oregon lost 2 games so it wouldn't matter much anyway if they did win week 1

Please give me 3 reasons why. It would take 4 weeks to complete.

1. It takes away the importance of the regular season. Every single week of the football season is important. Come prepared for every game knowing it might be you only chance.

2. It decreases the fairness for the teams that went undefeated. For example, a team like Penn State who does not in the least bit deserve a chance to be the MNC has atleast a 1/16 shot.

3. I do not support, at all, anyone playing for the MNC that did not win their conference. How can Florida be the MNC w/o first being an SEC champ, or Iowa w/o being Big 10 champ.

Now, I think some of the BCS bowls might be broken, but I'm content w/ the BCS determining the MNC. I'm not for any playoff that is bigger than 3 or 4 teams.
