Honestly.. i love jose reyes, but I wouldn't be too devasted if we got a good deal for him.

I was listening to WFAN which is the NY sports radio here, and I heard one of them talk about this trade.
This trade would never be done by the redsox, but It would be nice for the Mets

Mets Get:

Jacoby Ellsbury
Jed Lowrie
Clay Bucholz

Sox Get:

Jose Reyes

Keep dreaming. Reyes is good but now chance in hell he is worth all 3 of those players.

I'll be livid as a sox fan if this happens. I'm a huge fan of Jacoby and Buchholz, and I think Lowrie can be an average to above average SS for the next 10 years.

Today on one of the most "respected" sports radio shows in Houston the hosts were suggesting the Astros trade Bud Norris and Yorman Bazardo for Halladay.

Sports radio hosts are retarded 99.99% of the time.

Despite Ellsbury being incredibly overrated, that deal still ain't happening.

Sounds like another delusional New York (Notice I didn't say Mets? Yanks fans who call FAN are just as guilty of this) fan who calls WFAN thinking his/her player is worth more than they actually are.

"Ok, why don't we send Ryan Church and Brian Schneider to San Francisco and see if we can get back Pablo Sandoval and this Madison Bumgarner kid I heard about."

I sort of think its not enough. lol

I'm sort of with you. :)

I think the Sox could afford to move Buchholz with their pitching depth, Reyes would obviously be replacing Lowrie as the SS of the future. Ellsbury would the hardest loss to absorb, as I don't know of anyone the Red Sox have that could come anywhere close to replacing what he gives them in CF. Reyes is signed to a pretty friendly deal for his youth and talent level too, I believe. If the Red Sox could pick up a good defensive CF from someone, then I could see it

Now, I don't want this to happen, as I love the Rays.

I really think they would need to give more up for a player like Reyes. Maybe if Lowrie or Buchholz proved anything in the majors it'd be different. But, as proven as they are in AAA and Spring Training, I see way too much risk on the Mets half. The Mets bamboozled Reyes on that contract. I think it's close, but it might take more.

MORE? Wow, you are on dream street. Does anyone remember Buchholz throwing a no-hitter and going 4-1 in 2007??

I do. I also remember his nightmarish 2008. He's back in form now and I love Clay, but I could understand the Mets needing more proven ML talent for Reyes.

A package of Ellsbury, Buchholz and Lowrie is WAY overpaying for Reyes, who seems like he gets hurt all too often. The deal does not benefit the Red Sox, as Nick Green has done well above average at SS this season.

Pete Munro did not throw a no-hitter. He was a part of the Astros' 6-man combined no-hitter. He threw like two innings.

Hypothetically if this trade went down, Lowrie would be replaced by Reyes, like you said they could lose Bucholtz, and Reddick would probably be called up to replace Ellsbury. The guy was raking before his injury and I wouldn't be surprised if he is called up anyway in September. However, I don't think this deal has a chance of going down.
