The trade that brought Boston the 2007 World Series MVP, and their ace. This wasn't Jeff Bagwell for Mike Anderson.

It's the wrong thread to try to make a point. Reyes has sucked this year, and isn't in the same universe as Hanley as a shortstop. What has Reyes done for the Mets Offense lately?

Reyes is a perennial all-star

And also, can one be considered a perennial all star when they aren't even in the current All Star Game?

Please, just quit while you are behind.

Fine.

Here's what I should've said:

Ellsbury, Buchholz and Lowrie for Reyes is not a good deal for the Mets.

The Mets need a big bat and a proven starting pitcher.

Ellsbury is as small a bat as they come. Lowrie is an average SS (the whole 100 projected 100 RBI thing from last year is a useless "statistic") and Buchholz went from prospect to suspect to prospect year over year since 2007, so I don't know what to make of him.

Reyes is a perennial all-star who is arguably the second-best offensive SS in baseball after the player the Red Sox gave away - Hanley Ramirez.

Please, just stop...

Gave away for Josh Beckett and Mike Lowell, two key members of the 07 World Series team.

Why would any Met fan want this deal?

Jacoby is good but his average offensive numbers wont do anything to help this mess of a team.He doesnt produce enough to play the corner outfield...he certainly wont play centerfield.Im not saying Reyes is incredible but trading him for a lesser player isnt a good move. The Mets need to fire HoJo,Manuel and Omar and rebuild the team for next year.

This would be a good trade for Boston. They need a SS and when Reyes is healthy, THE MAN CAN DO SOME DAMAGE. Clay is in AAA and he has struggled at the MLB level. Lowrie is injured and who knows if he will be the same player. Elsbury is nice, but the Sox have tons of outfield prospects and they can always go out and sign someone. Reyes would be a perfect fit for them, but this trade will never happen.
