I really like this card...

So I got this card in a deal with Jim (tedwilliamsfan, thanks for a great trade) and I made the deal assuming I would list it on eBay and just take the funds from it.

Now I go to eBay and as I start listing the attributes of the card I realize, I'm really not sure I want to move it.

It's A-Rod's first autograph to the best of my knowledge, and even a year later his signature was already much more condensed than it is on this one. Really a sweet card IMO. Now I have to decide what to do with it lol.

My first thought when I saw that card is:
Why does he have a White Sox hat on? Am I missing something but he never played for the Sox.

That's a sharp-looking Classic! It's his first certified auto and would make a great PC item if you decide to keep it. I'm actually a little surprised they don't sell for more than they do.

He played high school for Westminster Christian High School. They are the "Warriors".
This picture is from the Area Code Try Outs, where all of the high school players are sorted into "teams"...and Arod was on the White Sox. They all wear their high school Uni, but wear their "team" hat.

Totally understand. My favourite Halladay auto is his 1995 Tetrad or whatever. 5,000 of them and you used to be able to get them all day for $1. Now they end in the $50-$60 range.

Glad you like the card. It's definitely his first certified auto. I always liked it because it doesn't have faded hand numbering on it like many examples do. Just a cool card.

Completely agree on both these cards. True first autos are almost always so much nicer than later autos. I have a feeling that years from now that will matter more than name brands do now.

Besides these two examples, there's also the 1995 VLADIMIR GUERRERO, which while not a nicely signed auto,,,,is at least every letter

You can pick that Guerrero up for $10 or so including shipping. I have a copy. It's a joke how cheap it is and his sig became a disaster very quickly (not that I would use this one to teach kids how to sign their names...)
