Did the Caberra collector on here nab that one? I don't get it either. The man is a beast and one hell of a player.

well unlike many other players, it is his ONLY rookie that has any value, so if he continues to put up numbers, it should

I agree 100%

I think he is closer to 30 than 26. People wonder why a lot of these South American players drop off at such an early age. It's because MANY are older than they claim to be. Don't get me wrong, he is a great hitter, but I don't see him approaching any records or even any of the big milestone #s.

i understand that fully but the thing is, it is not rare what so ever, i mean basically through out the season every week you can at least see 3 to 4 up for auction, for some reason i just really see this card dropping below 200 at one point.

i personally am a tigers fan so i really do want one, but cant justify spending that much..and to the age argument, i really think he is a legit age i mean hell he still looks like a little baby in the face haha, but i agree he probably wont get any giant milestones

I would bet my collection Pujols is older than 29 but his talent level is in a different world. He will put up the milestone #s but I seriously doubt he is younger than 30.

Ok what exactly would he have to gain by lying for a 13 thousand dollar bonus?
You do realize he was drafted in the late rounds (13th) i believe not a whole lot to gain by cheating age also I believe he lived in Missouri for a few years before draft as well so i would bet my collection on it
To me the saddest part of this discussion is that we doubt players when they do well too many skeptics anymore

Judgine by what I have heard from people I have gone to school with, I believe in some cases it is done more on accident than anything. I know someone from Africa who honestly didnt know how old he was because of an issue with his birth certificate. He claimed when he filled out papers to come to America they asked for an age and his father put 17 but he was fairly certain he was in his 20's. His family wanted him to be able to attend high school and he wanted to go to college so they "used" that age. I dont know for sure but I dont think some countries actually have birth certificates as he claimed he didnt have one. I would imagine if it happens to one person I know these baseball players must be in the same boat. When someone is born outside the country what proof do we have that their age is correct wether their coming here to be a superstar athlete or just want to go to school?

Too bad we cant be like trees and just have rings that can be counted. 1 ring = 1 year right?

Then why do you think he is not telling the truth about his age?? Any evidence ?
Or just the he is a dominican stereotype? I am white for the record actually half indian (native) so I am not biased in that department I just honestly wonder why you think he is older than stated

Some guys just flat out lie about their age but I think there are some people who honestly dont know. I would imagine in some countries, mostly poor, they dont have big birthday celebrations and someone could be 11 and when the come to America they are "recorded" (whatever you want to call it) as being, say, 8. Not a huge differenct but by the time their really 30 they might actually believe, and others also, that their 27. As I said above, some families want their kids to come to the US for high school but may be 19-20 so they lie and say their 16. A lot of them probably dont even know their not the age they think they are and theres still a difference in their age.
