Good Morning Fellow Boardmembers,

I have a bad habit. I don't leave feedback for transactions that go smoothly like I probably should because of how time consuming it is and how it's difficult to do so in bulk. I know tons of people will rip me for this but you know what, IT'S MY RIGHT TO NOT DO IT...IT IS OPTIONAL, NOT REQUIRED.

Having said that, I sold a 2010 Triple Threads Carl Yastrzemski GOLD VAR BASE #/99 to a guy and shipped it promptly. Days later I get the following e-mail in my e-bay account:

"Hi. I received your product. Great, and thanks. But, if you really are trying to get 5 stars for everything, especially communication, why have you only left 7 feedbacks in the last 90 days, and received over 400 feedbacks during that time? It seems like you are wanting to get feedback to help your sales and store, but not giving back to your customers. You should be leaving feedback first, or at least leaving it immediately afterwards. Unfortunately, I have been having more sellers recently not care about their customers and give everyone that basic communication and courtesy -- and therefore, get only 1 star from me. I won't hurt your positive feedback, since you were fine, but customers deserve a basic "thank you" after we sent you money. It is VERY easy and quick for you to leave feedback....especially when you want it from us! I hope that will help you as you continue with your business."

So, I let sleeping dogs lie...It gets my goat that this guy has the gaul to call me out though. I don't even reply so that I don't get upset and go off on the guy.

Today I awake to find a NEUTRAL FEEDBACK in my account from this clown--"Not leaving feedback for your customers shows you don't care. Why should we help". Well, I yield...I spent TWO HOURS this morning in between calls at the office leaving feedback for every transaction and I send the guy a feedback revision request in hopes that this guy will reconsider and revise his feedback.

How can this guy say he's not going to hurt my positive feedback and then leave me a negative. GGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!

Now, I've recently had a guy leave me negative feedback after USPS took a long time to deliver a package/lost it. I SHIPPED A NEW ORDER WITH ALL OF THE ITEMS to try and get this guy to change his feedback and REFUNDED THE FULL AMOUNT OF THE ORDER INCLUDING SHIPPING. Having a refund in hand already, he still wouldn't give me the courtesy of doing it before he got the new package--the revision request expired the day it arrived. I also had a clown tell me that I had TWO CARDS PICTURED of which he ONLY RECEIVED ONE when the auction CLEARLY states that the auction is for ONE card. Take a look at ANY of the auctions I have up right now...I don't think there are very many people who describe as clearly as I do and who are as crystal clear with their descriptions and terms as me. I mean, I use new shipping supplies, every card gets a penny-sleeve, toploader, team/graded card bag, and stiffener.

It's getting to the point where I'll have to stop because this is taking up too much time in my life and it is having too much of a detrimental effect on me.

What is this guys problem? Why would someone wilfully harm someone else this way? What is it with people today? All of this over a $.99 card...go figure.

Any horror stories you'd like to share? Opinions? Let me hear your comments. If you'd like to see any of the above mentioned cases, see my e-bay account: Lfeijoo2k3.

I can't stand e-bay.

If you can't stand eBay, and think you're done with eBay...why did you type this?

Walk away.
Smile.
Repeat.

I agree with one point of his. As a buyer I only leave feedback once the seller did. I can not give someone a 5 for communication if they did not "communicate" to me by giving me feedback. I will not give them a neutral, negative or harm their rating in anyway, I just do not give feedback.

As a seller I give feedback the day I mail the item.

I agree with the guy about leaving feedback. Completely. Sellers SHOULD do so immediately after receiving payment and if you receive feedback, you have a responsibility to leave it for the person, in my opinion. They took the time to help your account, now take two seconds to help theirs.

I would never leave a neutral over it though.

I know guys, but I'm honestly a little bit turned off by my inability to leave actual PRODUCTIVE feedback. Really, think about it. What If we could leave feedback/rate (as a seller) the amount of days to pay? What if we could be honest in our feedback--like in my case where the guy left a neg for not receiving the second card pictured? AS A SELLER YOU HAVE NO RECOURSE!!!!

Why feed a system that is broken?

Because that's the system you're using. I agree that sellers should be able to leave some sort of detailed feedback about the transaction, but at the same time, as long as the guy paid within your time frame, how difficult is it to simply click the checkbox for "positive" and then click "submit"?

Ranting here isn't going to do anything . Frankly, ranting anywhere isn't going to do anything. This is eBay. If you don't like it, try selling somewhere else.

Take it for what it's worth. Sometimes you get screwed, but on the whole, you'd never be able to sell this stuff to this type of a market.

Not worth getting all upset about.

You know there is a screen where you can bring up all your transactions (I think it comes up when you click "Leave more feedback". Click on the positive button, type a message, highlight it, hit control+c (copy), and then go down the list click the positive button on each listing and hit control+v (paste). Continue on down the list leaving the same message for your buyers. You could have done your entire months transactions in the time it took you to write this message.

cardsrmytherapy, can you please leave me feedback here on FCB for the wrappers I bought from you. It only takes a minute. Thanks. :P

Leaving feedback can be tedious but it can't really hurt you. It will only help your ebay business even though their FB system is one-sided.

Do you send a sticker or note along with your items asking for feedback in return plus 5 stars? Kinda sounds like that's the case after reading the buyer's email. If you don't have an Ebay Store you can get Selling Manager to leave bulk feedback. Or you can paste the same feedback message into each transaction in the feedback manager(I use this for items I purchase).

I know it's not worth getting upset over it Jeff, but I've had a streak where I've felt taken advantage of and I just don't think it's fair. I know it's not necessarily right to not leave the feedback, but it's my right. And as hard as I work to keep a positive seller image on e-bay I feel this is a great disrespect.

Haven't you ever been fired up about something that's happened to you that was unfair in your opinion? I'm just trying to vent and at the same time put this example out there for others as a cautionary tale.

I know Art...I tried that and when you expand it to try and do it for 100 instead of 25, it only picks up 25 of your feedback, after you just copied and pasted 100 feedbacks!!! I just got used to not doing it. I see that I'm going to have to adjust my thinking in order to keep up with standards. Thanks for chiming in though. Greatly appreciated.

I really don't see what the deal is with sellers who don't leave FB. If you don't have the time to do it, don't sell.

Some people sound like the only reason they're on eBay is to accumulate feedback.

Newsflash: feedback is 1000% optional and always has been.

I'm not saying it shouldn't be left--eBay has made it really simple to leave feedback in bulk--but to receive a neutral for not leaving feedback for other people is insulting and makes eBay look bad.

Personally I always do leave feedback, usually after I know the customer is happy.....but when it should be left I suppose is a separate argument, and usually just is an argument that goes in circles......

I did want to say though - I do understand not caring about leaving buyers feedback, which is why I wouldn't care if I bought from you and didn't receive any.
Like I said, I do leave buyers feedback, but the truth is it is POINTLESS.
Without the ability to leave negatives there is no point to it all - I guess some people like a number attached to them, or to get a different color star......because that's all it is. Ebay mine as well just take it away if you can only leave positive feedback.

All I know is the last 3 NPB's I had were all guys with 100% feedback between 50-150. One which screwed multiple members from this site.....so it's no indication of anything.

So you don't want to take the time to leave feedback, but you come on here and write a 600+ word rant about someone not leaving you positive feedback? ::facepalm::
