This isnt a thread on trying to see who i should collect. I think its pretty obvious these are top guys. I have a few cards of each guys i have listed (except wieters) I dont want to pay 120 for an elite auto.

So here i the question. If you were given a 1000$ to invest in just one of the 5 guys listed who would it be and why.

LARS! :D

Why? Because he is Bostons power hitter of the future! And alls he has to do is be called up to the majors and you have already doubled your investment ;)

Price if I want to be safe, Anderson if its money I can afford to lose. Anderson will not have to do much to increase his worth because he is in Boston but Price has already shown that he has Major League stuff and toughness and playing the Yanks and Sox is worth almost as much as being on the two teams

I chose David Price, I think the guy is the real deal and hes proven it in the post season. I just wish I had some extra cash to buy some more of his stuff. There is a part of me hat just wants to sell everything and buy Price :)

I chose Heyward. Mid-large market team and his 'best' card (07 sterling auto) can still be had relatively cheap. Plus im a big fan of 'toolsy' guys.

I disagree. The only two bad investments i see on that list is Lars and Heyward.

We saw how David Prices cards went up during the playoffs and he barely even got to pitch. His cards are a good deal right now. I like Moustakas but yeah his prices may be from the hype right now. Wieters prices i dont see going up to much but i dont expect to see them drop at all.

There will be a LOT of money to be made off of every single one of those guys, anyone can quote me on that right now.

Lars. You'll see a price spike when he gets called up and if he gets on a hot streak at all in his first few weeks.

Even people that know nothing about prospects in Boston are starting to hear about Lars.

Hiya Matt,

Maybe you should have rephrased the question.

"Given $1000, who would you invest in to achieve the high ROI in a 6 months time frame" or something like that. Are you talking about keeping the card for 10 years or flipping it in June? Just a thought. Everyone interprets the sentence differently.

ROI = % Return on Investment for those who are wondering.

How are people saying none? The question was if you HAD TO invest in one, not "Would you invest in any of these guys?". :)

I chose Price, but I might have gone with Weiters if I had thought about it more, because he's a hitter, and because of his position he could be an All-Star every year.

To be fair to sheetskout, he didn't at all say they wouldn't be stars. I'm trying to read his mind, and I think his point might be that there are better, CHEAPER, guys that could give you a better ROI.

I picked Lars simply b/c Boston fans are like a mule with a spinning wheel; you'll have to be a geek like me to get the refrence. That, and I'm always weary of pitching prospects. could be i don't know enough about pitching, or it could be that they seem to get hurt more and/or figured out more.

My choice would be Weiters or Heyward.

Reasoning: Play on small market teams, they will have very little pressure on them to perform and will be given every opportunity.

I think Price will experience growing pains. Red Sox, Yanks, Blue Jays, White Sox, Angels, Texas, etc. His ERA will take a pounding. He is in the spotlight now. All eyes are on him. So is the pressure "do what you did last year!".....can he?

Braves aren't exactly a small market team.

I'm sure there are going to be better ROIs, but I was talking about when he said these are "HORRIBLE investments", when anyone with common sense and a memory (history repeats itself guys) can see that there will be very good money made off of each of the players on the list.
