There is no "right" answer, Zimmermann, Longo, Hamilton, Lincecum, Bruan, Posey, Hernandez and Pujols are all good candidates.
Ofcourse there isn't a right answer but its a fun game to play!
Zimmerman-already making big bucks as Pigskin said.
Longo-my answer
Hamilton-junkie and injury prone.
Lincecum-he's already making decent money and pitchers are injury prone.
Braun-Big bat and nice contract but very little defensive value.
Posey- 2nd on my list
Hernandez-See Lincecum
Pujols - Big bat and good glove but making huge money at a position that isn't hard to find a nice bat.
Tell that to pigskinboard. Injuries are a risk you need to take with pitchers, this thread would be better if it was separated by pitcher and position player.

We do this thread every couple months and a year ago everyones answer was Mauer.
The new contract effected people's decision? Lol? He def was one of the top guys I thought of with braun and longoria up there.

Think it might have something to do with his home run count from two years ago to last season.

Or Justin Upton. For the record, I will (surprisingly) be the first in this thread to say Heyward.

I'd still strongly consider them both in the first "round" I am one of many that will die with my faith in Upton.

That too. I knew that season was a fluke (power wise). I'll attempt to see one of my older posts in the archives somewhere in fcb. But he's still an elite player of the game, and young too. But with that lack of power I would rather have zimmerman or longoria.

Zimmerman has .300 abilitiy, 30 HR power, GG defense, a leader and has demonstrated all this on a losing team where he has been the best player on that team since he was a rookie.

If I want a hitter: Evan Longoria

If I want a pitcher: Clayton Kershaw

Good call on Kershaw...one year I hope he gets a ton of run support, so he actually comes in the top 10 in the Cy. (Sadly I don't see him ever winning it :( )

22 year old left handed aces with absolutely filthy stuff who make the league minimum are pretty valuable :D

Can you at least let him see a pitch in the majors first?

Are you doubting the talent of Jesus? Nobody fracks with The Jesus.
Not at all.

But when Jesus steps up to the plate against the King, all hell could break loose!

Don't worry, Matt LaPorta doesn't pitch.

Longoria's contract makes him the obvious choice among the truly elite hitters, especially when taking into account the weakness at 3B in the majors.

I love Felix but I'll take Lester at half the cost.

Less than $5 million for Longo + Lester. Not bad.

I'd strongly consider Posey as well. The guy is an absolute rock.

If you're going by contract, then Ryan Braun has to me in the mix.

Braun has a good contract but he makes like twice as much as Longoria.

Am i biased, yes? Yes i sure am. Ill be a fan of Longorias until his contract is up and signs with the Yankees for 130$ million, and yes it will happen. He is undet contract for 5 more years. When he comes up for contract Arod will be retiring. And then ill have to dump everything i own of his.
