1. 1948-49 Leaf- Satchel Paige RC
2. 1951 Bowman- Willie Mays RC PSA 10 signed by Mays and authenticated onsite by PSA. (You could probably do this with enough $)
3. 03-04 Exquisite-Lebron
4. 1957 Topps- Bill Russell RC Autographed
5. Find the oldest Topps Case I could find (50's) and have a group break on here.

A nice combination of modern and vintage

Clayton Kershaw 06 Chrome Gold Refractor 9.5 (i had the opportunity a few times to win this but did not bid enough)

Ichiro 04 UD Etching Auto bat /15 (would look nice near beside my Jeter /15 from the same set)

Ty Cobb cut auto (since I have never been in the market for one, I do not have a specific one in mind)

Kevin Durant Exquisite 3-4 color RC Auto Patch /99 (very high on Durant but can not shell out that kind of money to get one)

A PSA graded Stan Musial RC. (not sure how high of a grade since I have never even dreamed of owning one)

That was fun, now it is back to reality

i won the lottery last month ($25,000) and used it to pay off debt myself. i bought a few boxes and pulled some really nice cards but when you have the actual money in hand, you seem to look at many things a little differently for some reason.

This is a really cool post...lot of different answeres. I guess for me it would have to be cards that I know I could never obtain with the money the family makes now--or for that matter any time in the future........

1952 Topps Mickey Mantle
T206 Honus Wagner
Babe Ruth CUT AUTO
Lebron James Exquisite
Sidney Crosby The CUP

I would consider other cards like the Tiger Woods SPA RC AUTO, Jordan Fleer RC, Pujols Chrome RC AUTO, Gretzky RC PSA/BGS 9 etc, but realistically even if it took me a couple months to save up for each, they are obtainable....

Wow...I can't believe all you player collectors would just go out and buy all the cards of your player....how boring! If you did that, you would instantly lose your player collector status! I would call you Wossa and make fun of you on Freedomcardboard forums!!!! Real player collectors don't have it that easy!

Since I am a TRUE player collector, and would never stoop that low, my top 5:
1. Reggie Jackson RC
2. Lew Alcindor RC
3. Franco Harris RC
4. Clemente RC
5. 96 Gwynn Select Certified Mirror Gold (and I wouldn't tell you guys that I won the lottery :D !)

This makes a lot of sense. Almost every card in the hobby could be bought by a couple week's pay for most adults, not including expenses. Of course it helps to be working in today's economy :( .

Hopefully the cards people want most are the ones that produce the greatest nostalgia for them.

1. Mickey Mantle RC
2. 1933 Goudey Babe Ruth

I would spend the rest buying complete sets for my collection.

the way I look at this is if I won the lottery I don't need cards of value for their value.. I'd love to own a Mantle rookie now for resale but don't really care to own one to say I own one.. same with most other big ticket singles out there. I've been strictly a player collector all these years so that would be the thing I'd like to complete with unlimited funds. Finding all the 1/1's would be the chase since they are spread out of who knows how many collectors around the world.. it would take time and money and a lifetime of research to track them all down. at least i would have the cash to do so which would still make it a huge challenge to complete a player collection.

1887 Four Base Hits King Kelly
1899 Henry Recchius Honus Wagner
1886 N167 Old Judge...any HOFer
1887 Old Judge Cap Anson in uniform
1909 T210 Joe Jackson

Two of those are unique, and the rest have 3-10 each in circulation.

Agreed. $25000 is nice and probably relieved a bunch of monthly debt. I'm talking more like one of the big $100 million jackpots or something.
