I guess "technically" they could have had someone buy them out completely and put them all on The Pit, so as an alternative, I would think this is perfectly acceptable. :)

Not sure if you are hinting that Razor did something iffy but to say that it's ok to do something iffy ("the alertnative) since it could have been iffy X1000 is an odd statement.

Update:

Brian must have called thepit to straighten this out because Alex from thepit just called me back to clear things up.

Ebayer cometfan2009 is our "phantom buyer". He is a customer of thepit. He pitched the idea to thepit after thepit.com and Razor had their fallout. Thepit does own these cards now and will have control of all spreads. The quantities matched up ,but the price of these has yet be determined.

Take it how you wish. I have no hard information about this subject, so everything I said is merely observational speculation.

you really need to get all the facts when you talk to those guys.

Either that or you really need to disclose all the facts you are given. The price has in fact been determined, they paid the same exact price as everyone else on ebay.

I didn't say they didn't. I'm talking about the IPO price when they are released on thepit.

I think he meant price of the cards once they reach thepit

If that is the case, then my statement is invalid and I jumped to conclusions.

It seems like EVERYTHING this company does is mired in controversy. Why is that???

Ummm, because this board is populated with conspiracy theorists?

Razor could have a squeaky clean track record, yet someone here will find something.

I just spoke to Brian. He called thepit to straighten this out. Then Alex called me back to relay it back to the boards. Everything seems legit. Back to our normal blogging.

Isn't the pit a dumping ground for not so mint cards. Do they have some kind of grading they do. Do they reject cards? before they list them if they are dinged or o/c ect? I just don't buy anything sight unseen. Even if I may never own it.

I would not be so quick to assume that. I personally believe it was and is RAZORs past that greased the road to contrived assumption in everything they do.

They supposedly reserve the right to challenge you to having it graded at least psa8 at YOUR cost or rejecting it.

Basically, don't send them something that you aren't SURE would grade at least that well, is what they're trying to say.

As to how can they make money if they sell them at 5 bucks and they paid 5 bucks each plus whatever they paid in shipping.

Well they make money off EVERY transaction.

They could sell those cards for 1 dollar each, and as long as those cards keep trading on thepit.com, they'll profit in the long run.

that's how.

Kind of stinky that Razor was going to release these on thepit.com, but pulled back and released them on eBay, only to have someone from thepit.com buy them up at the end, just after some collectors bought in only on the basis of the rarity caused by the destruction of the unsold cards. Then, the previous Razor-mentioned player buys up a bunch to create a wider market and reduce value.

This from a guy who believes in integrity and did not buy any of those cards.

Just looking out.

Beefy,
Don't you think that whomever bought in quantities over 75-100+ would have to charge $10-15 each to cover the loss of the __% that do not sell?

Would red flags pop up if cards were being sold on thepit for under $10?

Also Beefy, do you still have 10% of the print run OR did that number change? (ie more were sold afterwards)

ThepIT makes money on the fees of the transactions which is why they dont need to sell them at 10
